Demon kissed was incredible. It has been a really long time since I read something that had me so engrossed in the story. I have not been this enraptured by a novel since I read Karen Marie Moning's Fever Series. It's that good.

That being said, Demon Kissed is a story about a girl, Ivy, who is attacked by what she thought was her boyfriend. He is a demon who forces a kiss from her with the intention of stealing her soul. She soon finds out that she is a Martis, who is chosen by the Angels to defeat the Valefar, demon slaves. She is also part Valefar. Everyone she thought she knew is not who they seem and she learns much to her dismay and disbelief that she is the key to a prophecy that could destroy the world. Everyone wants a piece of her, the Martis and the Valefar. She finds she is torn between her love and the strange bond she has with her best friend Collin and her friendship and loyalty to her mentor and trainer, Eric. Both care for her and have her best interests in mind. There are so many twists and turns and just when you think you have this amazing story figured out, you are so wrong. The ending was an incredibly shocking cliffhanger and will have you dying to find out what happens next. It was a superbly intense, hanging by the edge of your seat thrill ride. I loved it!

This book needs serious work. It is jammed full of choppy, emotional moments that don't make sense or flow together because there is a serious lack of plot and character development. From the beginning you are thrown into the action and while it hooked me at first there is no down time in the book. There is no opportunity for you to really get to know the characters and settle into the story. It is like a series of flashbacks or bullet points in a story outline with no filler in between. As a result, the characters are all one dimensional, boring, and ridiculous. The story is cheesy, the plot has serious holes and is full of contradictory statements. I am left wishing I had spent my .99 elsewhere.

I think the author should revisit the book, take more time writing it, and give it the time it deserves. The book has potential to be good, it just isn't there yet.

Demon Kissed is a must read!! I was hooked on it just from chapter on during the free preview by H.M. Ward on the Demon Kissed Facebook page (Go check it out if you haven't yet!!)It drove me crazy waiting for it to be published but it was so worth the wait!! I couldnt put it down until I knew Ivy Taylor's epic story!! You get pulled into her world and feel every turn of event like it's truely happening!! H.M. Ward is a very very gifted author and I love how the book is full of her voice; its in no way fake or robotic like some other books. You get the sense of a real person's thoughts from Ivy's point of view, the exact way you and I think too!! I can't wait to read more of Ivy's world and see how her life turns out!! I advice you to buy this NOW!! You won't regret it!! Im off to re read Demon Kissed for the umpteenth time while I wait for the next in series...please hurry Holly and big guys publishing it a little faster would be beyond awesome, oh and start filiming the movie too please, please, please!! :D

When i first read this book, i had a hard time forcing myself to put it down! It grabbed my attention from the first sentence.

Demon Kissed is about a girl who was attacked by someone who was supposed to be her normal, human boyfriend. Unfortunately, he was far from human. what seemed at first like a simple kiss changed Ivy Taylor's life forever, and possibly effected the fate of the human race. She gets caught between being Martis and Valefar, and the only one in this supernatural world who is neither fully Martis or Valefar. This book is the first chapter in the story of Ivy's battle to stop a prophecy that leads to the Demon's takeover of the world, but also about battling for the life of the boy she loves. I absolutely loved it!!

It only took one novel to make me a Demon Kissed fan! I REALLY enjoyed Demon Kissed, the first novel in H.M. Ward's paranormal series.

Before I read this novel, I had a few reservations:
1) I've read a lot of paranormal novels, but I've never been a big fan of demons. In fact, demons give me the creeps. Before I read this novel I kept wondering: Am I really going to like this novel? Now that I have finished this novel, I can answer with a definite yes. For the most part, demons still give me the creeps, but I do have a soft spot for one demon in particular now.
2) I've already started so many series that are still in progress; do I really want to start another one? After completing this novel, my response is a heck yes. Although I'm going to hate waiting for Satan's Stone (book #4- released January 2012) and The 13th Prophecy (book #5 -released March 2012), I can't wait to get started on Cursed, the second novel in this series. I look forward to reading the rest of this series as soon as they are available.

I loved almost every single thing about this story: the plot, the characters, the suspense, the romance, and H.M. Wards writing style.

My only critiques are:
1) Ivy and her mother barely even have a relationship. Where was the parenting? Communication? Interaction? You barely even see Ivy's mom throughout the entire novel, and then she takes on this big "role" at the end of the novel. This situation could have been used to develop an emotional connection with readers and gain sympathy for Ivy. However, the opportunity was wasted because it wasn't used in any such way.
2) Ivy is a little whiny. Her personality didn't bother me that much, but I suspect that it will be a problem for some readers.
