Book Description

"She never wanted anyone, or anything, more than him."

Alex Giardi is a sexy, headstrong, career focused woman who spends her nights with take-out and a deadline. Liam is an overwhelmingly-handsome colleague sent “from across the pond” to help relieve some of her work stress. Instantly, there is an undeniable attraction—but while Alex is determined to keep it strictly professional, Liam has other ideas in mind. Stuck with Liam in close quarters, Alex’s waking hours are full of deflected questions and stolen glances. But the dark hours of sleep bring her to a terrifying conclusion: Liam has a power over her. And soon, Alex knows — without question — that he will end her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two thumbs up February 20, 2012

I can honestly say I loved the crap out of this book. Allison B. Levine has a new kind of literary voice and it must be heard! I hate all things vampire, I think it's a played out concept and prefer witchcraft to be honest. This novel blew me away! I downloaded to my Kindle on a whim and once I started reading it, I was hooked into it and finished it in a matter of hours. I devoured this story. I recommend this to not only the people who love a good vampire story or those who love a good love story, but to everyone else as well. This has so many different elements to it,I could see it appealing to just about everyone. Please be warned that there are some adult situations and language so I wouldn't let the kids read it. But everyone else, get out there and buy A Demon Love Story - you will NOT be disappointed! The only downfall is that there is no sequel yet - I need more Alex and Liam NOW!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Let's talk Vengeance May 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
First I want to say that my rating for this book is 3.5 STARS. It falls between I liked it and I really liked it.
The first person point of view works really well for Alex. You get inside her head and see how twisted her mind is. You do not want to get on her bad side. This woman believes in vengeance and she will get it!
Liam is likeable at first. I could never figure out what he saw in Alex, and my feelings about both of them changed throughout the book.
The plot was new and the story was easy to follow but the reading was slow going at times. This book is very long and I feel if it had been shorter and concentrated on the dialogue more, it would have been more enjoyable for me, because the dialogue was great.
At times I forgot this story had vampires in it, so I would recommend it to anyone looking for a book about vengeance, a thirst for blood and a lustful dark romance.
Because of the mature content, I would only recommend this to adult readers.

3.0 out of 5 stars High hopes for this one... April 18, 2012

I had much higher hopes for Allison's debut story, but alas it wasn't to be!

The 330 pages felt a little more like 1330 pages by the end of the story. I was well and truly ready for the end. This was primarily because I didn't like Alex (the main female character of the story), I didn't like her to begin with - she was entirely too up herself and 'look at me I'm the hottest bitch in the room' for my liking, and after we got to the 'meat' of the story, I absolutely LOATHED her!

Liam was very swoon-worthy and he initially got my interest, especially the accent! Woo boy! Again, though, by the time we got to the main part of the story, my initial interest had waned to a serious disliking, although he'd still be totally 'shag-able!'

I had serious issues with the fantastical nature of the seemingly endless growth of Alex's ego. It got so out of control at times I actually laughed at the improbability of it all.

I would have preferred to see this cropped back to a more respectable length, more detail put into the important scenes (even some of the not so important scenes) to give the reader more of a chance to become involved with the characters. I personally would like to see some of the stuck-up bitch taken out of Alex, but hey, you can't win them all.

There were some truly incredible plot points in this novel, it was a gallant attempt at pushing the boundaries, but it didn't quite get there. If you want to push them, go the whole hog! I was expecting more detail in the rough parts, which I didn't get. It seemed a little glossed over, like someone had already edited it and was uncomfortable with real graphical details. I wanted more!

3.0 out of 5 stars Review from an author April 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If I could give a 3.5 star rating I would. Don't take this 3 star rating as a "bad" thing. As an author I know how horrible it can feel to get a 3 star review. I wanted to start this with the disclaimer that I rarely hand out 5 or even 4 stars.

That being said, here are some things I liked about A Demon Love Story.

The plot idea was new and exciting. A nice spin on an old classic. I refuse to leave spoilers so you'll have to read it yourself to find out. There were many twists and turns in the story which I loved. Written in first person POV, the main character, Alex, was as confident and brazen as they come. And by the middle of the book she was as ruthless as they come. The cast of characters added to her rage and lust in just the right ways.

Some stuff I wasn't overly satisfied with.

The book is really long. Honestly, Ms. Levine could have split this book in half, added some much needed detail, and had two full length novels, both making a profit. (This is purely my opinion of course. The author is the only one who truly knows where this story is headed.)
I don't really like romance. A Demon Love Story wasn't FULL of it, but had more than I prefer. The love interest never peaked my interest as I thought his infatuation for Alex was a bit unbelievable. Again, no spoilers here, read the book and make your own conclusion.
A bit more detail was needed I think. I would have like to known more in certain areas. Two books with more detail may have landed Demon Love Story a 4 star rating from me.

In the end, A Demon Love Story is a lustful, revenge filled, ruthless tale of a girl, a boy, and a thirst for blood. I liked it, you should too.
