Luca did it again,

This review is from: Demonheart (Audio CD)
I've been a huge fan of symphonic metal since I heard "Ancient Forest of Elves" by Luca Turilli, and it was still my all-time favourite even after getting into his other music, along with Rhapsody, Blind Guardian, Freedom Call and etc. Then I bought this album and listened to it the whole way though and totally fell in love with it. This has to be one of the most brilliant albums ever! It's amazing how Luca can compose; mixing the heavy metal of guitars and drums with a Celtic-like symphony type of music with the harpsi and violin and all. And the lyrics, when described with words, can only be said as one thing: Awesome. In the first 4 tracks (even though track 3 is an instrumental) he's telling a story, which as I have been told started in some of his other songs and continues in the album "Prophet of the Last Eclipse," so this is also a good one if you're into fantasy and sci-fi all that fun stuff. Out of all these songs, which are all the top of the line, I'd have to say my favourite would have to be "Black Realm's Majesty." So, what I'm basically saying is, even if you haven't heard any of these songs, BUY. THIS. ALBUM. You haven't lived until you've heard Luca Turilli's work.

This is a stunning CD, a must have for any symphonic/power metal lover. Intense vocals bring out the power in the lyrics and go perfect with the outstanding chorus and orchestra. You don't get much better than this CD, though it only has few songs, NONE will get old, and it will be a cherished adition to your collectionl. Take it from a true metalhead. 5 STARS!

Even better than Rhapsody of Fire. Luca's own project features powerful gregorian choirs, and much more epic and melodic symphonies and guitars riffs, letting him really show of his skill. This EP (and all of Luca Turilli's albums for that matter) falls into the category of epic symphonic metal, and fans of Rhapsody, Kamelot, Elvenking, Demons & Wizards, and even Dragonforce are sure to love this The title song, "Demonheart" is quickly becomming the most frequently played on my ipod!!

Good EP, but the best songs are available elsewhere,

In case you can't get enough symphonic Italian power metal from Rhapsody (now called Rhapsody of Fire thanks to some very un-metal lawsuits), founder/guitarist/songwriter Luca Turilli has embarked on a solo career, which includes the EP Demonheart.
Released to coincide with his second solo album Prophet of the Last Eclipse, Demonheart features a few exclusive tracks not available on other Luca Turilli releases. It starts off with the title track, which is available on Prophet of the Last Eclipse, followed by an edited version of that album's title track. Up next is the brief instrumental "Rondeau in C Minor" which is exclusive to this EP. It's basically an introduction type track, and doesn't really add anything. "Black Realms' Majesty" is another exclusive track, and is the only real "song" on Demonheart that you can't find elsewhere. It has a very similar feel as the songs on Prophet of the Last Eclipse. An edited version of "Kings of the Nordic Twilight" is next. The full length version on Luca's first album is much better, so I don't see what is gained by including an edited version here. Last but not least is a cover of the Helloween classic "I'm Alive." This was originally available on a Helloween tribute album, but it's a nice addition for those of us who didn't pick that one up. Plus it's cool to see Luca pay tribute to an obvious influence. Ultimately, Demonheart is for Rhapsody/Luca die-hards only. If you already own the Helloween tribute and Luca's regular solo albums, then you'd essentially be buying Demonheart for one new song. Is it worth it? That depends on how much you're into this particular band/artist. |
