Book Description

February 2002 Nexus Classic
Eighteenth-century Devon. Old Noah Pargade is a wealthy yet curmudgeonly miser who marries the nubile and game Alice Eden. As anxious to avoid sharing his wife as he is his wealth, he makes sure she is enmured in his desolate old house on the moors. Fortunately for young Alice, there are enough young bucks in the vicinity whose advantage it is in to take pity on her. Noah's fears are well-founded, as Alice is able to continue her cheerfully sluttish goings-on. Especially when the swashbuckling John Truscott returns from his foreign travels, and quack doctor Cyriack Coke, replete with a cartload of bizarre colonic devices, visits the county. When the truth becomes plain, old Pargade is forced to take drastic measures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic stuff, October 16, 2004
Amusing thought the satirical revue below is, Demonic Congress deserves rather more. If there is any piece of erotica that better combines dark humour with the frankly bizarre and perverse, I've yet to find it, and I bet it would be written by Aishling Morgan. Demonic Congress is so far beyond the ordinary slave and dungeon stories that there is simply no comparison. Clever, convoluted, and with an open lewdness that mocks all that is prim and proper, it is a wonderful read from start to finish.

The setting is historical, but the places are real, the research detailed, and even some of the characters based on real people. Okay, so eighteenth century Dartmoor was never like this, but it should have been!

Watch out for Cyriack Coke with his infernal device, and Black John the dwarf...

4.0 out of 5 stars Explicit, July 17, 2008

I bought this book believing it would be a sexy thriller. My mistake. Nevertheless if you have an open mind you could read it and have fun. But if you think that we are now more open-minded about sex that in the 1800's read this book and you'll be appalled. On the other hand and having in mind that this is an invented story, I don't think many women would do what says here.

3.0 out of 5 stars John Truscott Rides Again, June 18, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Staffed with Aishling Morgan's usual cast of anally obsessed women, dwarfs, upper-middle-class twits, elderly husbands and John Truscott; Demonic Congress leaves the reader dissatisfied. This book lacks much by way of dramatic tension and Morgan appears to have lost interest in the sort of lurid details which make "The Old Perversity Shop" a winner. Not so much a loser as a case of Morgan mailing it in.
