Finally - real rock n roll is back, with a fresh blues sound,

If you're like me, you've been longing for some great new band to come along and play real rock and roll...for so long, I've only listened to my cd collection or classic rock stations - nothing new has done it for me for a while...but then one night I stumbled upon an online post for Tony C and the Truth...followed the link to their website, heard Little Bit More start up, let it loop for nearly an hour, then bought the CD right away.
This is the kind of music that gets in your veins - it's outrageous rock mixed with the blues and a fresh unique twist for a sound all their own. Tony's voice is amazing, DJ Prestige is quite the talent, and the rest of the band rocks! Once you put this cd in, you'll never take it out. Best new music in years!

This album is incredible. It never, ever leaves my cd player! I'd heard the band featured on "Las Vegas" on NBC, then again on ESPN's "Ultimate Highlight" and couldn't stop looking out for them. Tony C's voice takes listeners to a southern-blues infused, rock-guitar driven heights. "Little Bit More" is sure to be a summer hit. "Who I Are" straight rocks, and I find myself blasting it as I drive, top down, through the neighborhood. Finally, "No Pain" is a pleasant surprise, as it's bluesy rifts make me feel every note deep in my soul. Oh yeah, I also managed to catch them playing a club in NYC. Tight. Enough said.

I'm a singer/guitarist in a rock and roll band, and while I've pretty much given up on rock radio playing anything new that's worth a crap (something besides Godsmack, Linkin Park, ewwwww...) I do get introduced to a lot of new bands when we go on the road, either by seeing them, playing on the same bill with them, or someone in another band giving me the good word on them. The latter is how I was told about Tony C and the Truth. I got to talking with a drumer in another band and we both agreed that we were pretty much fed up with the direction rock radio seemed to be going (at least in our homestate of Colorado, where the new rock radio stations seem to have a playlist that consists of maybe five different bands, all of which pretty much suck horribly), and how nice it was when we actually heard a new band playing real rock music. He told me about this great hard-rock-blues band outta New York called Tony C And The Truth. Trusting this dude's judgement I bought the CD as soon as I could find a copy.
This guy Tony is a much needed shot of good surly charisma that rock music has been long overdue for. His uber-rasp vocals, delivered with the street-wisdom and finesse of some the greatest in blues, coat the endless barrage of infectious hooks that are this debut album. The DJing that I would normally have found irritating is perfectly in place, the ballads aren't wussy, and the rockers are just plain ol' dirty fun. If you still like good rock n' roll with a hefty helping of blues, funk, and urban grit this is a very sound purchase.

If your looking for something out of the ordinary that will totally blow your socks off, then Demonophonic Blues is definately for you! This band is exploding with a raw talent you just don't find anymore in the music industry. Every song is distinctly different, from blues to rock to funk to tossin' out rhymes...even a bit of country thrown in the mix, there is something on this CD for everyone.
If you feel your lacking somewhere in your music collection, it is because you have yet to own this CD. I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed. I also have had the opportunity to see them live, and WOW! The energy that comes through on the CD is even more alive and well on stage! Bigger than life, and twice as wicked!

Wow, what a band. They are awesome live. They keep the crowd listening with every song. Tony has a unique voice. As far as musical talent...they all have it. I was equally impressed with the drummer. When I saw them live they had quite a following and it was like every song spoke to them! The more I listen to them the more I understand that!! Take the time and listen to the samples offered...you will be hooked, too!!

Best show, best album this year!,

After hearing the single "Little Bit More" on the local radio station a couple months ago, I spent time trying to locate more from this group. I was able to sample the CD on Amazon and loved what I'd heard. So, I bought tickts to a show they were playing in DC and LOVED it. Tony C & The Truth live are tight. The CD is amazing, and the live show only gets better. The entire band is laid-back and down to earth. Tony and the guys signed numerous autographs (and body parts) and maintained their sense of humor. Tony's voice is enough to make women melt, his lyrics are great, and the music amazing. A bit of blues, lots of rock, some great tracks laid down by DJ Prestige and you have an album that has stayed in my CD player for a week straight. I've been recommending it to everyone!

A great 'Bar' band gone pro, then 'where are they?',

From 'Who I Are', to the re-do of 'Fight For Your Right (to Party)', this album is GREAT! Tony C has a blues voice like an aged elder Southern Black Blues man...while bringing a new style of sound to the music. The band gets it's roots from playing bars in the Upstate NY areas and even tho I and many others think this music is fantastic...Lava Records must not have made enough with Tony C and the Truth, and dropped them. Probably will be a one hit wonder album for the group, unfortunately..but I assume they went back to singing at the local bars again. I am not from that area of where they are from, so would really like to know where or 'if' they are still playing gigs.
My favs on the disc are Who I Are, Good Looking Out, Little Bit More, Got it Made, No Pain..but all the rest are great in there own way too. It's all a rock funk style, with an urban beat, and blues tone...and if you are offended by colorful language and topics within the music, then this isn't for you. The band plays together well, and the lyrics are 'real' life, in the eyes of Tony C. If only a larger record label would sign them, then maybe the funds would be there to get them to do another album of more great tunes! If you put the disc in your PC, it will play some videos also! Some good footage of the band out and about, and singing! It's all from 2003/2004, and being 7 plus years old, you would think it's a bit dated, but it isn't really! If you like this kind of style in music, blues/rock/funk/urban beat, then I recommend you buy your copy today!!

This is really a great album. I like the mix of blues, rock, funk, etc. It really makes for some great listening. This album and Clutch - Blast Tyrant have been the best surprises of the year for me. If you haven't already purchased both of these albums, do so, you will not regret it.

An Exquisite Fusion of Sounds, made to melt the senses,
By
This review is from: Demonophonic Blues (Audio CD)
Demonophonic Blues is by far one of the most creative and expressive new artist albums I have ever heard. It from the very start of the album, you get the feeling that it's going to be gritty music that's great to listen to anytime. As the album progresses, Tony C. and the Truth show the depth of their skill laying down incredible fusions of rock, blues, and... a little somethin' special. The first single off Demonophonic Blues, Little Bit More, really starts to light up the album, the album slows down with songs like "Got it Made" and "Gravity" before hammering you with "Medusa" and (covering the good 'ole Beasties) "You Gotta Fight For Your Right (To Party)"
As I said in the begining, this is a truely unique album, the only thing that really tops this particular album, is seeing the band live. I'd highly recommend it to anyone interested in blues, classic rock, funk... well just about anyone can find something of intrest in this album. |
