A most excellent CD!,

I became a HOL fan when "Sahara" came out and I searched everywhere to get their other CD's. I love James Christian's voice, there is just something about his singing that I can listen to all the time. Gregg Giuffria is an awesome keyboardist!Demons Downs has a great mix of ballads and rock music. "what's Forever For", "Spirit of Love" and "inside you" are great ballads. "Metalic Blue" and "can't fight love" are awesome! It's too bad they didn't stay together and produce more music. I am just glad I was able to get the three CD's they made! If you were an 80's rocker growing up or just like that type of music, this is a MUST for your collection!

House Of Lords/Demons Down,
By Steve Wolter (Hartford, Wisconsin. USA) - See all my reviews

80's, 90's band House of Lords released three albums as a band. Demons Down is the most emotional and well writen album they created, not to take away from their other two (Sahara, HOL), which are extremely good! With songs like "Remember My Name", "Sahara", "Love Don't Lie", and the moving remake of Steve Winwood's song"Can't Find My Way Home" it's a shame that this band still isn't making albums. But James Christian had a excellent solo album called "Rude Awakening" that was just re-released. I highly recomend it!

I love this band. I have been listening to them since 1990 or even sooner. Their song Metallic Blue, Johnny and spirit of love are awesome. I cannot say enough about them, except Im dissappointed that they are no longer together.

Melodic Hard Rock's Finest Moment,
By
This review is from: Demons Down (Audio CD)
Having missed the opportunity to explore the sound of House Of Lords when they first came out back in the late 80's, I never even thought of grabbing any of their material, until stumbling across a cheap copy of their self-titled debut a couple of years ago, & after a few listens, realised what I'd been missing out on since their arrival. This album, being their 3rd release is just superb. Despite having only 2 remaining original members since their 1st record, the top notch song writing, recording & playing still remains as tight as ever, maybe even maturing greater with each track bordering on AOR / Hard Rock without dropping the quality of style that made every fan a believer in these guys. Unfortunately by the time this album came out (1992) Grunge was taking the World music scene by storm & this album, like many others by similar artists, got heavily overlooked & eventually fell underground, rarely to be acknowledged. If you are a fan of Melodic Rock or beautifully crafted Hard Rock, this album is a definate, for you will not be dissapointed...guaranteed!

If you consider yourself an HOL fan, you must get this for your music library. I'm heartbroken that I am unable to find their second album on CD. All of the songs ROCK! My personal favorite is "Oh Father".

Jerry Seinfeld Probably Likes This CD!,

This is a great cd from the tail end of the classic "hair metal" era. I was watching Seinfeld yesterday (the "Bubble Boy" episode). Much to my surprise, when George Castanza went to the Bubble Boy's room, the boy had a poster of this album cover on the wall! By the way, they don't make releases like this anymore and it would be a great addition to any melodic rock fan's collection. On another note--Gregg Giuffria, where have you been and when are you coming back???

Hard to find melodic rock gem,

1992's Demons Down was the third album from melodic rock masters House of Lords. Since emerging from the ashes of Giuffria (with a little help from Gene Simmons, of course), James Christian, Greg Giuffria and a rotating cast of characters issued some of the best melodic rock albums of the era. By 1992 Christian and Giuffria were joined by bassist Sean McNabb (ex-Quiet Riot), drummer Tommy Aldrige (Whitesnake, Ozzy), and guitarist Dennis Chick (VVSI).
Demons Down is an impressive melodic rock album, but I don't think it's quite as strong as Sahara or the first House of Lords album. The band's essential sound was intact, but you could tell they were moving ever so slightly away from the keyboard-dominated Giuffria sound. I think the lack of a steady presence on guitar (a pair of session guys are credited) hurt the band as well. Still, there are some killer songs on Demons Down. "O Father", "Demons Down" and "Metallic Blue" are excellent rockers, and "Inside You" is pretty enough to bring a tear to your eye. As always, some top-tier guest singers contributed background vocals, including Fiona, David Glen Eisley and Paul Stanley. We all know how this ended. 1992 was about the last year anyone could get away with releasing an album like this. Grunge came in, and House of Lords disappeared for more than a decade. Unfortunately, Demons Down remains the scarcest of the original House of Lords albums. It's worth tracking down, especially if you're already a fan of the band. If you're new to them though, you'd be better off starting with their (way) more affordable debut album.

Great forgotten work,

I have always been a fan of House of Lords and I really like DEMONS DOWN. This CD, like their previous, has some great songs. I especially like Metallic Blue for it's cool guitar riff but O Father, Inside You and Can't Fight Love really stand out for me. I enjoy every song on this CD and I wish they would have toured so more people could have heard them and bought their CD's.

there must of been a demon, told me to buy this, cause the cd is descent but
not better than "sahara".O father is a great song, and the last song are great. The rest of it is a little redundant.Though the cd is worth buying I'd say this one is even with "world upside down" maybe just a little better cause tommy aldridge is bang'in the skins.

This along with Giant - "Time and burn", Harem Scarem - "Mood Swings" is an essential purchase for those of you who loves melodic rock as it was played in the late eighties and early nineties!
"Inside you" still gives me chills! Buy! |
