Ok Metalium put out a killer debut album, and since have consistantly released good but far from great records, now all of a sudden they release Demons of Insanity which is not only as good as the debut but IMHO the best album that they have ever recorded. this is by far the best sounding album of their catalog one listen and you'll agree the production is flawless. Metalium seem to be dropping the more power metal style for just a more heavy approach, the helloweenism is still there but there are stronger hints toward bands like Brainstorm and Iced Earth than there have been on their previous album. The other thing I like about this album is the concept, this album focus's much less on it than the others, making each song stand on it's own. anyway a killer album if your into heavy metal, definatly my favorite of their career. highly recomended. oh yeah and the almost fear factory like drumming on a couple tracks is an awesome touch to their sound.

I found these guys on Youtube, and couldn't believe how unpopular they were or unknown they are in America. Talk about hardcore metal mixed with Iron Maiden style singing.
These guys are awesome and deserve way more popularity then they got.

No original ideas ... the same formulas ... competent but ultimately uninteresting musicianship. Welcome to Chapter Five of the Metallium saga ... and I haven't even mentioned the dumb lyrics yet.

When I first heard Metalium's first album, Millenium Metal, I must say I was quite pleased with what I heard, with songs such as "Metalium," "Metalians," and "Fight" it was a pretty good debut album. Chapters two and three also had their fair share of good songs as well, but overall it seemed for every subsequent album the band came out with I liked less and less of the bands material. Chapter four only enforced this feeling even more.

Now we have chapter five, Demons of Insanity, and I still can't shake this feeling. Don't get me wrong, the album has some killer tracks, the title track being the best example. The song Atrocity comes off sounding like something Anthrax would have written in the late 80's (and that's a compliment, as I like that era of Anthrax's music), and Destiny is a killer slow track with some great backing vocals. Power of the Time is also a decent opener as well, even if the band has had stronger opening songs on their previous CDs. Silence of the Night also deserves special mention with its chilling, haunting piano work.

Still has good as those songs are the rest of the songs really pull the rest of the album down. Cyber Horizon is a snooze fest, and Ride On fits into so many metal song stereotypes it isn't even funny. Then Metalium than gives us another long, boring epic just like "Illuminated" from As One in the form of "Endless Believers". Why do they have to write these kinds of songs? They can't make them exciting in the very least, so why bother? The rest of the songs pretty much are just as boring, the whole been there, done that thing.

Additionally, it's really annoying when singer Henning uses various screams in the place of actual lyrics. I'm not complaining about his voice, and a well placed scream is always a good thing, but read the lyrics for the album and there are just so many of them its really funny, yet sad at the same time. It's almost like they used the screams as a way to say "I forgot what I'm supposed to sing here."

Demons of Insanity is a decent chapter in the Metalium library, buy it doesn't hold as much originally or charm as the original or their earlier albums. Still, do you think anyone will really care once they reach chapter 10? Only time will tell....
