This band is amazing,

and it's kind of sad that they don't get as much recognition as they should for being as good as they were. Being an owner of the original CDs it honestly doesn't bother me that, no, there's nothing really "new" on this record. It's worth getting for the little differences. The timing is usually faster and some of the lyrics are changed... for the better, in my opinion. I mean "Jesus holds a blade to your throat and begs you to conform" on the song Jezebel is just such a flat out cool lyric. And the crappier recording quality actually helps to make the songs sound a little heavier than their more well produced counterparts. I wish they could have put a few more demos on the CD, but what they did include is still very good. It's definetly worth your money.

As amazing as I had hoped,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Demos: 1993-1996 (Audio CD)
First off let me say I'm 19 but I'm too lazy to get a profile. On to the cd. This cd is everything I had hoped. I am a huge fan of acid bath. I have all cds, the sole dvd, and "aftermath" bands(agents, goatwhore, deadboy). I can't get enough of Dax and co. This cd is no exception. The production on something of this nature. Its almost blackmetal quality but alittle more well done. The songs have subtle differences mainly lyrics and tempo. The only exception is Bones of Baby dolls which was recoreded on a 4track. The song it self sounds more distant and depressing than any horribly produced black metal song I've ever heard which only makes the song better. I was surprised they didn't use a killers artwork on this cd but none the less still highly evil. All and all the cd is just as it states, the demos of perhaps the most artistic and creative band to ever come out of the south, perhaps anywhere in the world. The only thing that I regret is that I was too young to see them live. They are my biggest influence and will continue to influence countless other artists for decades to come. RIP Acid Bath

reminiscing,

First off I wanna start by saying Im a huge Acid Bath fan. Easily my all time favorite band. I'm lucky enough to have been there from the start. I actually still have the original demo on cassette. That thing is by far my most cherished object. I love the rawness of the Hymns demo. The sound is so raw, it's scary. I remember sitting at home one day with friends jamming to Hymns. One of my friends wasn't into metal so he had never heard of Acid Bath. When Fingerpainings came on he commented, "it sounds like the Devil is about to jump out of the speakers." The statement just captures the essence of Acid Bath.Acid Bath were so far ahead of their time. I still love their music as much now as I did back in '93 when I first heard them. The serial killer style lyrics are amazing. Dax is by far the greatest lyricist ever. Im in agreement that the lyrics and tempo on Hymns are even better than they are for Kite String. Of course in comparison to the songs that are on both CD's. Another thing I liked about the demo is that it incorporated Audie doing some wicked lows. Its sad that Rotten Records was their label. If not Acid Bath would have been a big name in the metal industry. I'm just happy that the few people that have heard this great band have formed a cult like following. It never ceases to amaze me when I see how many fans they do have. I'm also damn proud to have seen them live many times. My most memorable show was the night before Audie died. I'm very thankful to have been there to see his last show. I too am a huge fan of all the bands that have come from Acid Bath. I still make their shows whenever possible. As great as those bands are, its not Acid Bath. No matter how pumped I get to see any bands, its not like when I knew I was going see Acid Bath. Its like even back then, everyone knew this was something special. Long live Acid Bath!
