5.0 out of 5 stars This band is amazing
and it's kind of sad that they don't get as much recognition as they should for being as good as they were. 3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed Review
I just first off want to say I like Acid Baths other recordings besides this one. This one is demos, so of course there is going to be alot of diffrences between the two recordings and this one. I dont want to personally give it a bad review, but in all honesty, I didnt like it. It was basically a diffrent version of the songs. I am not a big demos fan personally though,...

Being an owner of the original CDs it honestly doesn't bother me that, no, there's nothing really "new" on this record. It's worth getting for the little differences. The timing is usually faster and some of the lyrics are changed... for the better, in my opinion. I mean "Jesus holds a blade to your throat and begs you to conform" on the song Jezebel is just such a flat out cool lyric. And the crappier recording quality actually helps to make the songs sound a little heavier than their more well produced counterparts. I wish they could have put a few more demos on the CD, but what they did include is still very good. It's definetly worth your money.

5.0 out of 5 stars As amazing as I had hoped, February 16, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Demos: 1993-1996 (Audio CD)
First off let me say I'm 19 but I'm too lazy to get a profile. On to the cd. This cd is everything I had hoped. I am a huge fan of acid bath. I have all cds, the sole dvd, and "aftermath" bands(agents, goatwhore, deadboy). I can't get enough of Dax and co. This cd is no exception. The production on something of this nature. Its almost blackmetal quality but alittle more well done. The songs have subtle differences mainly lyrics and tempo. The only exception is Bones of Baby dolls which was recoreded on a 4track. The song it self sounds more distant and depressing than any horribly produced black metal song I've ever heard which only makes the song better. I was surprised they didn't use a killers artwork on this cd but none the less still highly evil. All and all the cd is just as it states, the demos of perhaps the most artistic and creative band to ever come out of the south, perhaps anywhere in the world. The only thing that I regret is that I was too young to see them live. They are my biggest influence and will continue to influence countless other artists for decades to come. RIP Acid Bath

5.0 out of 5 stars reminiscing, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Demos: 1993-1996 (Audio CD)
First off I wanna start by saying Im a huge Acid Bath fan. Easily my all time favorite band. I'm lucky enough to have been there from the start. I actually still have the original demo on cassette. That thing is by far my most cherished object. I love the rawness of the Hymns demo. The sound is so raw, it's scary. I remember sitting at home one day with friends jamming to Hymns. One of my friends wasn't into metal so he had never heard of Acid Bath. When Fingerpainings came on he commented, "it sounds like the Devil is about to jump out of the speakers." The statement just captures the essence of Acid Bath.

Acid Bath were so far ahead of their time. I still love their music as much now as I did back in '93 when I first heard them. The serial killer style lyrics are amazing. Dax is by far the greatest lyricist ever. Im in agreement that the lyrics and tempo on Hymns are even better than they are for Kite String. Of course in comparison to the songs that are on both CD's. Another thing I liked about the demo is that it incorporated Audie doing some wicked lows. Its sad that Rotten Records was their label. If not Acid Bath would have been a big name in the metal industry. I'm just happy that the few people that have heard this great band have formed a cult like following. It never ceases to amaze me when I see how many fans they do have. I'm also damn proud to have seen them live many times. My most memorable show was the night before Audie died. I'm very thankful to have been there to see his last show.

I too am a huge fan of all the bands that have come from Acid Bath. I still make their shows whenever possible. As great as those bands are, its not Acid Bath. No matter how pumped I get to see any bands, its not like when I knew I was going see Acid Bath. Its like even back then, everyone knew this was something special. Long live Acid Bath!

5.0 out of 5 stars FIVE STARS, BUT....WITH MIXED EMOTIONS., December 8, 2005
By
The Game "Game" (Batesville, Ark, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Demos: 1993-1996 (Audio CD)
When it comes to this band, I've been blessed. I got to see Acid Bath twice during the Kite String era, and I've seen Agents of Oblivion twice.

I've gotten to meet Dax and both bands. I shook Audie's hand. Had a brew with Sammy. I own both Radio Edit CD's, Kite String and Paegan on CD, Cassette, and Vinyl. I have hoodies, t-shirts, long sleeved t-shirts....you name it. I also have the Double Bootleg DVD.

I was in shock when this CD hit the shelves and I had not heard that it was coming out.

I'm a fan, I bought it, I love it, I'll listen to it over and over again. It's fantastic.

But my mind keeps going back to Acid Bath and Agents of Oblivion, strung up by Rotten Records, limping from town to town in the crappiest of transportation, struggling to set up, to play, looking for a decent bite to eat......

I'm proud to say that I shared pizzas and beer with this band. You don't buy this CD to whine and gripe because a song isn't on it. You buy it to crank it up and remember the good times.

But part of me hopes silently that the boys are getting some royalties off of it.

I listen to Finger paintings of the insane right now....the sound is more like modern metal compared to the original (although I like them both). If you liked their other albums - check out the previews! New lyrics too - some changes! Dr. Soosse is worth a preview too...heavy!

I dont want to personally give it a bad review, but in all honesty, I didnt like it. It was basically a diffrent version of the songs. I am not a big demos fan personally though, I am more of a collector. Would I reccomend it if your a collector, or you enjoy demo recordings? Yes. Would I reccomend it as an introduction to Acid Bath? No, Personally if you want a good introduction to the band I would say Paegan Terrorism Tactics would be the best introduction to Acid Bath. I would say for a die hard fan of Acid Bath, you will love it. Id say its just mediocre, I find myself skipping songs but Acid Bath is not my all time favorite band. They are one of my top ten though.

Acid bath was and still is the very definition of what extreme art is: Existance summarized- brutal, honest, in your face and undeniable. Dax Riggs is THEE best lyricist that has ever lived and his voice has NO equal and the other members that made up this awesome band were the perfect compliment to his genius and abilities. This album has songs that will make you cry, songs that will make you want to curb stomp your enemies, and songs that will just make you want to go out and enjoy life in the most carefree way you can. This compliation of some of the demos this band recorded between 93' and 96' is an emotional roller coaster that you'll want to ride over and over until the ride breaks down nad you have to buy another one (as i have now 4 times) If you love awesome instrumental ability and poetry you NEED this album and if you love metal you CANNOT call yourself a metalhead unless you own EVERY Acid Bath album. BUY IT!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Acid Bath Finally Comes Full Circle, September 11, 2009

This review is from: Demos: 1993-1996 (Audio CD)
finally 8 years after disbanding Acid Bath Releases their unofficial 3rd album (if you choose to consider it an album of it's own). Demos: 1993-1996 is a compilation of demos from Acid Bath's only 2 studio albums: When The Kite String Pops, and Paegan Terrorism Tactics. if you're a new fan of Acid Bath's or even a long time fan, and are curious about if this cd is worth the $15 i assure you it's worth every single penny to hear these songs in their rawest, and most aggressive presentation. and this is coming from a person who normally could care less about demos from most artists, but don't waste your time reading this or any more reviews just buy the CD already and see for yourself
