5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Introduction to TCP/IP, April 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Demystifying Tcp/Ip (Paperback)
When I picked up this book, I didn't know anything about TCP/IP. A few hours later when I finished this short book I could recognize simple TCP/IP jargon like "kerberos" and know what's basically going on. Like it says, this book is intended to be an intro to TCP/IP before tackling a bigger book on the subject. It does the job beautifully.

If you don't know a thing about TCP/IP and want to learn about it, I highly suggest reading this book before moving on to a more in-depth book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mystifying TCP/IP, March 29, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Demystifying Tcp/Ip (Paperback)
This book is essentially a glossary of internet terms. Many of the chapter names begin with "What is..." followed by, for example, "FTP". There is a certain amount of historical comment, very little depth of explanation, and no practical information at all. The sheer mass of technical terms - I started counting them and quit at 100 - leads to complete confusion, rather than demystification.

4.0 out of 5 stars Demstifying TCP/IP, January 25, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Demystifying Tcp/Ip (Paperback)
This book is easy to understand and concise. It is a good starting point before taking a class on this topic. If you are studying for the Network+ I would endorse reading this book before you take on the TCP/IP chapters. Although it does not explain the OSI model in its entirety and it is older, it is a good starting point and a keeper for future reference.
