Great at first... but doesn't hold up,
This review is from: DenTek Custom Comfort Dental Guard, Twin Pack!, 2 ct. (Health and Beauty)
This is a great product because it forms right to your teeth/mouth. Although, a few weeks into it it's already breaking apart. :((

This is the only night guard I will use. It is very comfortable and easy to get used to. The only problem is that they fall apart and you will likely have to buy a new one every six weeks or so.

Easy to use and works exactly as it was supposed to. Small profile so not very intrusive. I recommend you spend a bit of time wearing it on your first day, as you walk around the house. it gives you time to adjust to the feel of it.

Hard to get a good fit,

I've been using OTC (over the counter) mouth guards for years and I'm always trying new ones in the market to compare. I got this one as a gift but unfortunately, I don't think it's a very good mouthguard. The plastic wears out quickly and it's difficult to get a good fit.

Do not buy,
This review is from: DenTek Custom Comfort Dental Guard, Twin Pack!, 2 ct. (Health and Beauty)
I have been wearing plastic nightguards for years and have never had a product this faulty. I purchased it at Target b/c there was a 2pk for $18 and I thought it was worth a try. Not worth a try. The first one fell apart in under 30 days. Though they have offered to refund my money, I am still giving this product a 1 b/c it's not worth your time to even bother with this product. I have to admit I am interested in the "no boil" but plan to just go back to previous brand (The Doctor's).

Don't waste your money!,
This review is from: DenTek Custom Comfort Dental Guard, Twin Pack!, 2 ct. (Health and Beauty)
I followed the fitting instructions exactly and couldn't not get any kind of solid fit. The material just didn't seem to be pliable enough to fit around my teeth and even with a very strong bite, did not form well. I'm getting a refund!

Dangerous!,
This review is from: DenTek Custom Comfort Dental Guard, Twin Pack!, 2 ct. (Health and Beauty)
I'm 30 years old, and this product was WAY too big for my mouth. I just could not get it to fit right.
The first time I boiled it and put it in my mouth, I had to push the sides of it together to fit under my back teeth. Once it hardened, I still had to push the sides together in back. This motion caused the front of the mouth guard to flex forward, putting enormous pressure on the back of my front teeth, and it hurt my gums. It felt like I had braces again! It would not stay in my mouth at night either! The second night, I re-boiled it. I put it straight into my mouth and bit down exactly where my teeth fell without flexing the guard. My molars sat halfway off the inside ridges of the guard. It hurt! The worst was the third night, when I boiled the second guard. Again, I put it straight into my mouth, but this time I put my front teeth right up against the front of the tray so that my molars would fit into the more narrow part of the guard closer to the front. This product put so much pressure on my front teeth that when I woke up in the morning, not only did they hurt intensely, but I COULD ACTUALLY FEEL MY RIGHT FRONT TOOTH MOVE back into its normal place when I took the guard out!!! If you have a small mouth, please do not use this product. It could seriously push your teeth out of alignment! This product is dangerous, and I really hope I am able to get a refund (NOT a replacement). Now, I'm just trying to decide between DenTek's Comfort-fit dental guard (though I'm wary of using another DenTek product... what if this one is also too big or hurts my gums?) or Sleep-Right's Secure-comfort dental guard.

Custom Comfort - Not Very Comfortable,
By
This review is from: DenTek Custom Comfort Dental Guard, Twin Pack!, 2 ct. (Health and Beauty)
It came time to replace my custom fitted mouthguard that I got from my Dentist several years ago. Insurance doesn't cover these mouthguards and instead of spending $300+ to get a new one from the dentist I decided to roll the dice and risk $20 to try out this product. The boiling process is strange and while you do get a decent fit to your mouth, the mouthguard feels bulky in all the wrong places and it's so tight around your teeth that it actually hurts. I wasn't able to sleep with this in so I went back to my grimy old mouthguard until I can come up with a Plan B. I followed the fitting instructions exactly and still it felt very uncomfortable so that leads me to believe it's just a poorly conceived "one size fits all" concept.

Too big, can't close mouth around it,

I have a stressful job, and that stress comes over via serious grinding at night. I always wake up with a major headache and jaw pain. Without insurance I refuse to buy a $400 dentists' night guard, so I tried this instead. No dice! It's too big for my small mouth, and even after I've molded it to my teeth, it's so bulky and big that I can't close my mouth. It feels like a hockey guard in there! If you have a small mouth, this is NOT for you. I recommend spending the extra money and investing in the Dentek comfort guard (the one with blue pads that go over the molars on the bottom and a plastic strip that runs along the front teeth to keep it in place). That one is infinitely better.

Best nightguard unless you pay for a custom one,

Not sure why everyone is complaining about this product.. I have paid $500 for a few custom nightguards from my dentist and I have to replace them every year or two. I have braces on now and can't get a new custom one every few weeks so this is a great compromise. This guard is super comfortable and you do need to replace it every so often depending on how rough you are on them. The custom ones from the dentist are really hard materials so if you grind bad you will wear through this quick.
You can buy thicker models that will last longer from Dentek for the same money but they aren't as comfortable. I highly recommend this if you're looking for comfort. I find the other guards feel like sports/football mouth guards and are way too bulky for me. Comes with a pretty nice case as well. Better than my case with my custom guards so I plan to keep the cases for when I get my braces off and have another custom guard made. |
