Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Take the guesswork out of measuring, marking and reading angles—no tricky geometry or complicated calculations required—with the Denali Digital Angle Protractor. Simply swing open the tool’s pivoting leg and immediately read the angle on the digital display window. The tool is accurate within 1 degree, and will read angles ranging from zero to 185 degrees. The anodized-aluminum protractor is also fitted with two bubble vials for use as a conventional level.

The Denali Digital Angle Protractor weighs less than a pound, and measures a slim 1 in. x 2 in. x 11 in. It’s powered a single 9-volt battery (included) that typically lasts about 100 hours of normal use. The tool comes with a protective carrying case that’s equipped with a convenient steel belt clip.

The protractor provides a quick and precise way to read existing angles, such as roof slopes, wall corners, handrails, and mitered trim work. You can also use it to mark any desired angle up to 185 degrees. It’s an indispensable tool when installing crown molding; use it to determine the angle of outside corners, which are rarely 90 degrees. This versatile tool will also do many of the jobs typically reserved for a sliding T-bevel square. And if all that weren’t enough, the Denali Digital Angle Protractor costs about three times less than any comparable tool on the market. --Joseph Truini

4.0 out of 5 stars Denali Protractor, November 15, 2006

This review is from: Denali 11-Inch Digital Angle Protractor (Tools & Home Improvement)
I ordered this item almost out of curiosity. An accurate digital protractor for under $30 would be useful and interesting.

One jab at the Amazon information...the "accuracy" of this item is listed by Amazon as +/- .1 degree. The manufacurer/distributor says the "resolution" is +/- .1 degree. They say the "accuracy" is +/- 1 degree. That is a 10 fold difference...which is huge. I called the distributor but did not get much of an answer. My take is they guarantee it to be within 1 degree.

Now to the protractor. When it came, I measured both an Incra square and 45 degree angle. Both readings were exact. I also measured a Starrett square...again, the reading was exact. I tried it on some accurate 30 degree and 22.5 degree tools. Same result.

My conclusion is you can trust this device to measure angles accurately. It does not compute miter cuts for you...it simply measures angles and you then use a table to set your miter saw.

The two vial levels are also quite accurate measured against a Stabila level.

I bought this while Amazon was running several promotions that brought the price down close to $20..It includes the battery and a handy case that you can clip or thread onto a belt.

In another review, this item was compared to a Bosch unit. The Bosch performs more functions, but costs 5 or 6 times as much. You can count on this piece to give you accurate measurements instantly...measurements you then use to suit your purpose. I think it is an excellent example of what it is designed to do. I deducted one star ONLY because it lacks certain functions that I would use. Based upon what I know, I'd buy it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality, accuracy and value, October 10, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Denali 11-Inch Digital Angle Protractor (Tools & Home Improvement)
This product just became avail. on Amazon and I decided to order one. I couldn't see spending 3-4X the price for the similar Bosch DWM 40L.

I just rec'd the product and the first thing I did was check it against my Starrett #20 Machinist Square. It read exactly 90.0 degrees despite the published accuracy spec of + or - 1 degree.

I looks very well made with a large LCD readout and easy to use on off switch. Unlike the Bosch, this unit comes with a carrying case and belt clip.

I'm giving it 5 stars for accuracy, 5 stars for value, and 5 stars for quality. I think the Bosch has a couple extra features like ruler marks on the blade and possibly a hold/recall function. So for features I'd give it 4.5 stars. A blade lock would also be worthwhile.

However I'm thrilled with this tool and it should be a companion to every mitre saw. This product should make a sliding T bevel obsolete.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but shouldn't be compared to Bosch, November 11, 2006

Lets be honest comparing this "protractor" to the Bosch is a little absurd. It is not even close to features and should be compared to a level more than the Bosch unit. Having said all of that and having owned this for several weeks I like the product. I have done some trim work and used it as it is smaller than my Starret unit. It is accurate and that is really what matters with this type of product.
