These bits plug up easily and are very weak. On simple drilling, I've broken one of them and bent one of them, both rare occurences with good quality drill bits.

At the price of $4.99 , this set is over priced due to inferior quality.Several bits were warped which made them not useable for metal drilling and at best questionable for wood drilling. Stay away.

I received a set of these as a gift with the purchase of a bosch drill. I used the 7/32 and 1/4 and both broke within seconds drilling light metal (computer hard drive case). They both snapped in half close to the center and seemed very brittle. It would be hard to recommend these for other than wood drilling.

Having used several drill bits over the course of my 30-year carpentry career, I consider myself a good judge of which drill bits will do the job and which will fail. Upon first examination, the bits felt sharp but extremely brittle, usually the first sign of inferior metal. Sure enough, while using the 1/8" bit to run a pilot hole in a sheet metal framing stud, the bit snapped. Even though I received these as a free promotional gift, they will only be used as a backup and only in wood. The case is nice but a bit oversized for my professional toolbox, where space is at a premium.

Got this compact drill bit package as a part an Amazon special when I purchased my Hitachi drill. The bit points stayed sharp and performed better than expected for bits at this price range. Snapped a bit when using it to increase the diameter of a hole (using the side of the bit to grind the hole larger). The individual black bits are not labeled in terms of size, but the case is. The case is probably the best part of this drill bit package, as one could interchange/replace these bits with other manufacturers' types. At about $10.00 paid, it was a good value.

I was pre-drilling with the 5/64 drill bits in to a base molding so as not to crack it. I used the bit twice and it broke. Well I gave it the benefit that maybe I moved the drill when drilling. There were two bits so I used the second one and it broke right away. I had another drill bit box that I bought on ebay. I paid $3.25 for this cheap set. I finished two rooms of base boarding with that cheap bit and I am still useing it. I would imagine the larger bits would be okay. But for the price, hey. The really bad part is you pay more for shipping. So that $5.00 drill bits really cost you 12 or 13 bucks. Denali 15-Piece Black Oxide Drill Bit Set

This is an excellent set of drill bits. The case alone is worth as much as the set. The drill bits are very sharp and do an excellent job ripping through metal, wood, and plastic (all I have used them on so far). It comes with pretty much every size you need before getting into boring bits or a hole saw.I read some reviews about how they keep breaking. If you use them at the proper speed and don't press down too hard then you will rarely break a drill bit. You are supposed to let the drill and bit do the work not your muscles.

I haven't used the bits, that's not why I made the buy, but the case is quite nice and sturdy for my good bits that were housed in a worn out case.

the larger ones are okay but when drilling through really hardwoods the smaller ones tend to get stressed and eventually sheer.

After getting these I realized how dull my Titanium coated bits were, these just smoked through the studs in my shelfing project. The bit holder is extremely secure and organized with a broad selection of bit.I only gave it 4 out of 5 because I haven't used them long enough and they are like carbide bits, but then again they are 5/5 in value compared to the cost of buying one Carbide bit. Even better this kit was free with the purchase of my Makita Combo Pack |
