4.0 out of 5 stars Bright and compact, but flawed.
These flashlights ended up being great. They are both Bright and light-weight, and extremely portable. The Aluminum frame means they aren't gonna crack like those cheap plastic ones. And in terms of price, they simple cannot be beat. You could purchase a half dozen of these for the price of one name brand flash light.

However, as many on here have stated,...

1.0 out of 5 stars One out of three ain't bad?
Out of the box, all three worked - very bright. About an hour later, one of them would not turn on, and another would come on dim. I changed out batteries and traded out caps (the switch is in the cap), but the problem appears to be connectivity between the ground connection of the little LED circuit board and the flashlight body.

This review is from: Denali Super Bright 9-LED Heavy-Duty Compact Aluminum Flashlight, 3-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
Out of the box, all three worked - very bright. About an hour later, one of them would not turn on, and another would come on dim. I changed out batteries and traded out caps (the switch is in the cap), but the problem appears to be connectivity between the ground connection of the little LED circuit board and the flashlight body.

The second one finally quit a few days later, but the third one still works well. It's the silver one, and I suspect the color treatment of the other two is what killed the conductivity.

While the price is good, I'm left with only one working flashlight. I wouldn't recommend this purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars 2 out of 3 Aint Bad, June 30, 2008
This review is from: Denali Super Bright 9-LED Heavy-Duty Compact Aluminum Flashlight, 3-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
I had to mix and match parts to get two of the three lights to work. One of the on/off switches didn't work, one of the battery compartments was missing a spring to hold the battery in place and one put out only a little light even after switching parts around. The two lights that do work now, are bright and work well. They are sturdy and fit in the hand well. They are small enough to fit in a pocket when not in use. The strap is useless as I can get only 2 fingers through it and it would be nice to be able to slip it around the wrist to prevent dropping.

two of them work pretty well.

the third - not at all. i got it to light up very very briefly, and it was very dim. Tried it with new batteries, and assorted swapping of parts, and while it will flash bright, it would not stay on or bright.

The ones that work, are impressively bright for their size.

Overall, however - I am unhappy with the product. the electrical connections are flimsy, and frankly.. you shouldn't have to be a handyman to get a flashlight to work. I didn't order 2 with a broken one thrown in free - i ordered three.

However, as many on here have stated, they don't have a great track record of working out of the box. Of the 6 I ordered, 4 worked perfectly out of the box, The other two were a little off. They would blink on and off as you tightened the battery caps on, but remained off once the cap was securely on. It occurred to me that there was a problem with the contacts. Since the Flashlights use the metal tube as one of the contact points, I went at the threads of the cap and the body in hopes that I could clean up the connection. Turns out it worked! Once I cleaned of some of the manufactures protective coating, I found the broken flashlights worked perfectly. I now have 6 fully functioning flashlights. I'd complain about that little inconvenience, but these are so cheap, even if you can only get 2 working, you'll have saved money off of the name brands.

Other then the complaint about the quality, it does have a few other minor flaws. I notice that these run relatively hot compared to some of the other flashlights I own. Also the strap that comes with these is barely big enough to fit three of my fingers through, really much less useful then a full wrist strap. I Can't testify to the longevity of these though, I've owned them for about 3 months and they all still work. We'll see how they hold up in the years to come.

Pros:
+Very Cheap
+Extremely Bright Light
+Light Weight
+Aluminium Frame

Cons:
-Some didn't work out of the box
-Tends to run a little hot
-Strap is mostly pointless

I bought 2 sets of these flashlights for my nieces and nephews for Christmas. Out of the first set, one did not work at all, and the other 2 were so dim as to be useless. If I shook and jiggled one of them, it worked intermittently. The second set worked fine.

The best flashlights at one point were Maglites but as LED technology improved, I started looking for a great LED flashlight. Frankly, these aren't it...

They go through batteries fairly quickly, don't produce a well focused beam and they're kinda dim for 9 LEDs. I found that if you're looking for a great LED flashlight, look for ones that use the Luxeon bulbs. I found a version sold at Costco in a 2 pack for about $20. The Luxeon bulbs are incredibly bright and efficient and produce a powerful beam that is like a spotlight. These are ok to give to the kids but for a serious portable flashlight, do your research and compare.

For the money, This little flashlight set looks to be just about perfect. I got some similar lights from another company at work and wanted to get something similar for home. These 9-LED lights are a very similar design, yet the 9-LED Denali lights are much brighter than my work 12-LED light. The case appears pretty rugged and the switch action is positive.

The batteries included were Panasonics, not a no-name brand, and small lanyards were included and pre-attached. For less than $5 per flashlight, they're a steal.

1.0 out of 5 stars Flawed design breaks easily, November 13, 2009
This review is from: Denali Super Bright 9-LED Heavy-Duty Compact Aluminum Flashlight, 3-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
When these little lights work, they will be all the light you need. For about 30 minutes of use. Then they start going off in the middle of use until you jiggle them. Then they won't turn on unless you jiggle them. I've owned three, and only one (the newest) is still working. I'll use it until it dies, but it's definitely not my flashlight for anything important. The first one I owned completely fell apart. I tried to turn it on, but when I pressed the button the force (not much) pushed the battery back, which pushed the LED housing, which pushed its way through the cheap plastic lens on the front, which then vomited all the electronics innards onto the floor.

I don't recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointed, August 29, 2008
This review is from: Denali Super Bright 9-LED Heavy-Duty Compact Aluminum Flashlight, 3-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
Two of the three worked great out of the package, one has an issue. I have to thump it a little bit to get it to work, sometimes is cuts off completely, sometimes it glows very dim. two out of three aint bad, but I would have been very satisifed if they all worked the same. The two that work are meeting my expectations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product for the price, August 22, 2008
This review is from: Denali Super Bright 9-LED Heavy-Duty Compact Aluminum Flashlight, 3-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement)
Considering it's $10 shipped for 3 LED flash lights, it's a good deal. They are not the best lights on the market but they definitely are in it's price range. All 3 worked right out of the package. Very bright considering its size. The beam pattern is considerably diffused which is OK for shining light on close objects but for far away the beam is pretty weak. Would buy again.
