In the product description it doesn't states that you could only use it with their replacement bags. I have vacuum bags and thought that would be able to use them.

The unit works well with the deni bags that came with the unit. I purchased the deni Freshlock Replacement Rolls Model 1640, but they didn't work, although the Amazon site notes that these 1640 rolls are "frequently bought together" with the deni 1910. I emailed deni and got this answer: "A message from Deni - Amazon is recommending the incorrect rolls for this sealer. You need any one of the following - 1761, 1767, 1962 or 1963 available on the accessories page of our website, [...] They didn't answer my equiry whether SealAMeal bags would work, but I can understand that deni didn't want to help a competitor. If you find less expensive but effective alternatives to deni bags, please comment here. The Freshlock replacement bags are very flimsy & open on 3 sides, the bags with the 1910 are quite heavy-duty.
