This review is from: Deni 6000 Ice Crusher (Kitchen)
I don't really mean that in a good way. I received my Deni 6000 from Amazon and unpacked it right away. I've been using a Metrokane Ice Crusher for over a year now which makes the perfectly sized crushed ice for chomping on(not too bad for drinks, either) but the Metrokane is a hand-crank style and since I'm crushing ice about ten times a day... I thought I'd look for an electric one.
First off, the Deni 6000 makes ice chips about the size of a grain of rice- shaved ice style. This is an excellent product if you are looking to make sno cones or tropical adult drinks. I do not find the highly uniform and tiny size of the ice bits very good for crunching and munching, however. I don't think I'd like this style ice for my amaretto or whiskey sours, either- the ice melts too much when you add anything to it. But, that is really a matter of taste in function. My two biggest issues- which prompted me to return the product- it has a funky little ice chute that takes one ice cube at a time and when I released the cube into the chute a major piece of fractured ice came flying back out at me and almost put out my eye. Now, I know I have two eyes, so no big deal, but I figure with my frequency of use I'd be inclined to put out the other eye in no time. The second issue I mebntioned is that while the rest of that ice cube was dancing around in there, the whole little machine was trying to rumba off my countertop. I literally had to hold the thing down and it still put up quite a struggle. It was a little loud, but hey, no one even notices in my house. The ice that came out was very nice for a sno cone and I like sno cones, so I give it a 3 star rating. Also because it was very easy to use- no assembly required, plug and play.

Not Great,

This review is from: Deni 6000 Ice Crusher (Kitchen)
Takes only one ice cube @ a time - and it rattles around a lot, unit seems kinda flimsy, it only slightly redeems itself with pretty finely crushed ice (not quite shaved as a previous review mentions) - there is a professional model listed on here for about double the price ... if you can afford it go for the upgrade, but this unit will suffice.

Great ice shaver, lousy ice crusher,

Deni should of called this an ice shaver vs an ice crusher. If you want to make snowcones, its great. Be prepared to feed the hopper ice cubes 1 by 1, because thats about all that will fit. If you want ice chips, buy a good blender or one of those hand crank ice crushers. On the plus side, it is stylish and the motor is quiet. If you want snowcones, buy it. But if you want good old chipped ice, don't!
