4.0 out of 5 stars Does okay, but could stand improvement
Does a good job at crushing the ice, though a little inconsistent in quality. The feed hopper can only take one to two cubes at a time so it is a little time consuming. Works well for small amounts, however you can do it ahead and store the crushed ice in the freezer. Sure beats the hand crank version.

3.0 out of 5 stars BETTER HOLD ON TO THIS ONE!
I don't really mean that in a good way. I received my Deni 6000 from Amazon and unpacked it right away. I've been using a Metrokane Ice Crusher for over a year now which makes the perfectly sized crushed ice for chomping on(not too bad for drinks, either) but the Metrokane is a hand-crank style and since I'm crushing ice about ten times a day... 3.0 out of 5 stars BETTER HOLD ON TO THIS ONE!, July 5, 2006

I thought I'd look for an electric one.

First off, the Deni 6000 makes ice chips about the size of a grain of rice- shaved ice style. This is an excellent product if you are looking to make sno cones or tropical adult drinks. I do not find the highly uniform and tiny size of the ice bits very good for crunching and munching, however. I don't think I'd like this style ice for my amaretto or whiskey sours, either- the ice melts too much when you add anything to it. But, that is really a matter of taste in function.

My two biggest issues- which prompted me to return the product- it has a funky little ice chute that takes one ice cube at a time and when I released the cube into the chute a major piece of fractured ice came flying back out at me and almost put out my eye. Now, I know I have two eyes, so no big deal, but I figure with my frequency of use I'd be inclined to put out the other eye in no time. The second issue I mebntioned is that while the rest of that ice cube was dancing around in there, the whole little machine was trying to rumba off my countertop. I literally had to hold the thing down and it still put up quite a struggle.

It was a little loud, but hey, no one even notices in my house.

The ice that came out was very nice for a sno cone and I like sno cones, so I give it a 3 star rating. Also because it was very easy to use- no assembly required, plug and play.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Great, September 17, 2005

Takes only one ice cube @ a time - and it rattles around a lot, unit seems kinda flimsy, it only slightly redeems itself with pretty finely crushed ice (not quite shaved as a previous review mentions) - there is a professional model listed on here for about double the price ... if you can afford it go for the upgrade, but this unit will suffice.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great ice shaver, lousy ice crusher, June 29, 2005

Deni should of called this an ice shaver vs an ice crusher. If you want to make snowcones, its great. Be prepared to feed the hopper ice cubes 1 by 1, because thats about all that will fit. If you want ice chips, buy a good blender or one of those hand crank ice crushers. On the plus side, it is stylish and the motor is quiet. If you want snowcones, buy it. But if you want good old chipped ice, don't!

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, September 28, 2005
This review is from: Deni 6000 Ice Crusher (Kitchen)
A fine crushed ice is the end result, but I do not like having to feed the ice in one cube at a time. The machine does not start with a full load of ice.

Am somewhat dissapointed as to the coarseness of the ice from this machine. I was expecting a much finer result result.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too noisy, August 14, 2006

I purchased the Deni 6000 without reading the reviews. What a dummy! It is too noisy. You have to hold it down or it will vibrate off the counter. It gives you shaved ice not chunks or lumps. I guess I purchased it because it was the right price. I now own the Waring professional ice crusher.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, March 28, 2007

This is a $30 "ice crusher" whose instructions advise inserting just one cube at a time. Even at that ludicrous rate, the machine occasionally jammed. I threw it out, went to Target and bought a $20 Waring blender that has an ice chopping mode. It works beautifully, even with a dozen cubes at once.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Little Crusher, March 9, 2006

Although this crusher isn't appropriate for large amounts of crushed ice, it is perfect for individuals or acceptable for small gatherings if you don't need the ice all at once. Crushing enough ice for a 20 oz glass takes about 30 seconds. I am pleased with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars DENI 6000 ICE CRUSHER, January 18, 2006
This review is from: Deni 6000 Ice Crusher (Kitchen)
THIS CRUSHER WORKED WELL & SELDOM CLOGGED. THE HOPPER WAS LARGE
AND EASY TO INSERT & TAKEOUT. THE CRUSHER WAS QUIET RUNNING, BUT NOISY, OF COURSE, WHEN CRUSHING MULTIPLE ICE CUBES AT ONCE,WHICH IT IS EASILY CAPABLE OF HANDLING. UNFORTUNATELY, AFTER ONE YEAR OF HEAVY & DAILY USE (WE LOVE WELCH'S GRAPE JUICE IN CRUSHED ICE WITH GINGER ALE!), IT QUIT AND WE ARE GETTING A REPLACEMENT IMMEDIATELY!
