What a waste of money!,
This review is from: Deni 7100 Food Dehydrator (Kitchen)
Okay, I thought I would save some cash and buy this dehydrator over a different brand that was more expensive. One side of the tray will dehydrate much faster that the other so you have to keep checking it and rotate the tray every now and then to regulate the air flow. Try checking it every couple hours when you're drying something that takes about 16-20 hours! I thought that was the most annoying thing that could happen, but it got better! Apperantly the side that dehydrates really fast is also MELTING the plastic tray! If I mention the other brand this is going to sound like I'm trying to increase sales for the other guys, but I'm not so just do the research and get a better (yes, probably more expensive) dehydrator that will work properly!

Don't waste your money,

I used this one time and it stopped working. The one time that I did use it, it took forever (3 days) to dry hot peppers which I had quartered. I'm sure it probably burnt out.
I'll probably get another one with a little more power - probably starting at 1000 Watts. I advise you do the same.

is there a 1/2 star?,

I thought I'd save some $...don't waste yours!I grew up with a "homemade" dehydrator that my parents made in the 70s (screen trays with a fan and light bulbs). I grew up on delicious dehydrated fruits, leathers (now called "roll-ups") so I wanted to share the experience with my family. After dealing with burnt foods (yes, I said BURNT!), and dealing with rotating and re-stacking the trays I realized that my time was worth the extra money for a REAL dehydrator! I recommend the Excalibur models!

Works, but has flaws,
This review is from: Deni 7100 Food Dehydrator (Kitchen)
This dehydrator gets the job done, but it doesn't do an even job and it is slow. Also, the manual that comes with it is poor, not giving useful instructions for drying times. You will need experience in order to know when your food is "done."
But it will produce usable results. I had no problems with melting trays (though one did break on me). It is difficult to clean, since any drips tend to drop down into the electrical part of the unit, which does not come apart for cleaning. Overall, I would recommend this as an introductory unit - if you are unsure if dehydrating is something you'd get into, this is an inexpensive way to get started.

I ordered the dehydrator because I knew I would use it. Although I did order extra trays first, which I did not need, it was my own fault. However, I will probably use them.
I love the dehydrator, it works with my needs. I really love that I can use Amazon for just about everything! Thanks Tikki
