5.0 out of 5 stars Quite a find
I saw one of these on the Food Channel show 'Good Eats' and knew I had to have one (I love chicken/country fried steak and swiss steak!). I was not mistaken.

It's a solidly made, serious unit. Its sharp so be careful but it works like a champ. If you've been using those store bought cube steaks ... don't... buy one of these and do your own. You'll love...

1.0 out of 5 stars Yes, it works but...
I bought this about 7 months ago for my husband because he is a grilling fanatic. He wanted the ultimate meat tenderizer and I saw Alton Brown from Good Eats using one simmilar to this. To say the least I bought it and the hubby was happy...for a while.
Yes, it does tenderize the meat and makes even the toughest cuts very succulent. The problem is after 7...

BTW, don't even consider the 16 blade type... worthless...

Wow is the only word I can think of the describe this Meat Tenderizer. I purchased the 48 Blade and love it! No more poking my steaks with a standard eating fork to make the holes for marinating. Used on a london broil and it melted in your mouth is was so tender. This a must for the everyday cook! I recommend...

I use the tenderizer every time I grill meat. It really works like a charm. And you get a li'l work out in too. The only drawback is cleaning. I seem to remember reading that it is easy as tossing into dishwasher. Well, you will find small pieces of meat stuck between the blades. Be careful with this since it is raw meat. It is easily disassenbled to be further cleaned. Or just use an old toothbrush to dislodge meat. Oh yeah. Blades are REALLY sharp. Be careful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Tenderizer Ever, December 23, 2006

Over the years, I've tried several ways to tenderize tough meat. Everything from pounding it to stabbing it w/ a knife. Needless to say, my methods were quite ineffective. This method is quite different. This model has 48 extremely sharp blades that pierce the meat and leaves very little visual damage. I've use this on some of the cheapest toughest cuts of beef and they always come out tender.

I strongly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can improve just about any cut of meat, January 3, 2007
This review is from: Deni MT48 48 Blade Meat Tenderizer (Kitchen)
Excellent product, has improved everything I have tried it with, from cheap, tough cuts to the best prime steak. Chicken, pork, turkey, Beef, Lamb..., excellent results with all. Tough cuts come out tender after a bunch of jabs, while fine cuts get shorter cook and marinade times and better marinade penetration from just a couple stabs. Be careful with cook times though, it really does cut them drastically. Very easy to overcook until you are used to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tender at LAST!, August 30, 2006
This review is from: Deni MT48 48 Blade Meat Tenderizer (Kitchen)
I'm blown away! With 48 blades, this product really does the job quickly and quietly. No more BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! echoing off the walls which only produced a flat but still tough piece of meat. I'd gladly pay twice the cost for the Deni because it works! It's very sturdy, very sharp and easy to clean in the DW. I'm using cheaper cuts of meat sucessfully in recipes I had stored away because of toughness or price. Marinating is faster and more effective, cooking time can be reduced. Keep it away from kids. Protect your countertop. The best kitchen gadget I ever bought!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool!, May 18, 2007

My son in law likes to marinate meats prior to grilling. He always stabbed the meat with a knife first, so I bought this tool for him, and one for myself also. He really enjoys the ease with which it pierces and tenderizes the meat. My daughter also remarked how easy it is to use. I especially like that it tenderizes the meat without smashing it into a thin flat wafer, so thick steaks can be tenderized, but still be cooked to the desired doneness. If doing very thick meat, I found it easier to press the tool only half way into the meat on one side, then turn the meat over and do the same again on the other side, instead of trying to push the "needles" all the way through to the cutting board. Cleaning is easy. A fast rinse under hot water, then into the dishwasher.
A WORD OF CAUTION: We nicknamed this tool "the shark", because the needles are exceedingly sharp...like shark's teeth.

I use it all the time to tenderize flat cuts of meats. Just a couple of tips:

Tenderize both sides twice, the 2nd time at right angles to the 1st.

When tenderizing a nice thick steak if you don't support the sides, a 1 1/2 inch steak can quickly become a 3/4 inch steak.

The prongs are VERY sharp, so be extremely careful as to where your fingers are.

You have to be careful about using this on the very best cuts of meat. Fine grilling steaks such as ribeyes, filets and NY strips will usually taste mushy if you tenderize them with this tool

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, just use the dishwasher to clean, February 8, 2007

As many other reveiws have stated, this is the ultimate meat tenderizer. The blades are sharp and it helps make tough cuts of meat into sponges to soak up aimrnades and seasonings. A little danger does come with the territory, - those are very sharp blades. Although very safe when using it as a tenderizer, I highly recomend just throwing it into the dishwasher if a quick rinse does not clean it... those little blades poke through every thing including dishtowels and sponges. The blade guard works well but isnt 100% foolproof. Thankfully it comes with a protective cover for storage in a drawer. Aside from being slightly dangerous, I have yet to find a better tenderizer.
