Great for Beginners,

This review is from: Denise Austin: Fit & Firm Pregnancy (DVD)
Those who are somewhat new to working out and want to get some exercise to look and/or feel better during pregnancy will definitely benefit from this workout, which is easy to follow and do. You'll feel refreshed and stretched after doing it. Exercise is the best cure for aching bones and muscles during pregnancy! And as Denise will remind you at least 30 times, "You're doing something good for yourself AND your baby."
If you've been more active throughout your pregnancy, though, you should be warned that this workout is basically the equivalent of the warm-up you would do before a non-pregnancy workout. You do a lot of the step-touch type moves that you would get in a typical aerobics warm-up. Of course, there's only so much you can safely do when you're pregnant, so a lot of the moves are repetitive and can get boring. But in the end, the idea is to get your body moving, and it does accomplish that. I didn't get this DVD until my 3rd trimester, and I enjoyed it. I felt like I got a good, basic, safe workout. But I don't think the cardio section would would have been enough of a challenge during my 1st and 2nd trimesters.

A bit too easy...,

Hello...I was in great shape prior to becoming pregnant- avid runner and lots of weights. So, I really wanted to stay in shape!
I am really disappointed with this video. I am familiar with Denise Austin as she has been around for along time. BUT, she was so annoying in this video. Overly perky. Additionally, the cardio part barely reaches 20 minutes. It is very monotonous. I ended up turing on my own music to drown hers out. Lastly, the toning section. I think that the moves themselves are very good. Certainly a good way to learn pregnancy modifications. However, each excercise she does is so short! I would just be getting into it and then she would move on to the next one. So now I must pause the video to get an appropriate amount of reps in. I truly think this is a good video for a fitness beginner, who hasn't been excercising prior to pregnancy. For those of you who are in decent to good shape, I do think you will be disappointed. You can make it work certainly, but I am also looking for a better tape. OH! Plus you will need a chair, towel, 2 pillows, and light weights prior to beginning which I never saw stated anywhere until I actually started the DVD and was half way into it. I could have missed it, but just take note and good luck. :)

I'm a Registered Nurse who is pregnant with her first baby. This DVD delivers a low-impact cardio and toning workout that prepares your body for childbirth, keeps you in relatively good shape, and helps you "bounce-back" after you deliver. Although I can't quite promise the bouncing-back part as of yet, after having used this DVD a few times, I can already sense a difference with my posture, with my muscle tone, and also with aches and pains (much less in my back!). Plus, the workouts are divided so that you can either focus on toning, cardio, or Kegal exercises if you do not want to do the entire workout. You may spend as little as 20 minutes to as much as 45 minutes for an invigorating workout. Denise Austin's optimism and perkiness only added to my motivation to use this DVD most days of the week.

Wonderful workout!,
This review is from: Denise Austin: Fit & Firm Pregnancy (DVD)
I was pleasantly surprised by this workout dvd. It is an excellent production, well cued, and perfectly paced for pregnant women. I love the 20 min low impact cardio segment that can be used in all 3 trimesters (there is even a lower impact modification shown), and that you can choose which toning segment to do based on your stage of pregnancy. I'm not normally a Denise fan, but this one is really good!

Denise is still her over-the-top excited fitness guru, but this workout is so much better than her other prenatal video. Denise is not pregnant in this one, but uses women in various trimesters. The workouts are varied and, with a little modification, I can really feel challenged when I'm done. I enjoy it, the music is good, the stage/setup is good, and I would actually recommend this DVD.

Best thing I ever did!,

I hate to brag but this video changed my life for the better! On the insistence of my midwife to get some exercise I finally gave it a go and got this video. I am now only upset that I waited until my second trimester to do it. I didn't think it would be much but after doing it I was pleasantly surprised at how much I sweat and how great I felt. I no longer had back or butt, yes butt, pain and found that I couldn't go one day without doing it. If I skipped it I was stiff the entire day and could barely sleep I was so sore.
Now brace yourself for the best part, the day I gave birth my stomach went completely flat! It had to be all those "hug your baby" reminders she gave during the video. I have never, NEVER had a flat stomach! So not only did I fit into my old jeans, they were all too big! On top of that I found I lost inches everywhere, butt, hips, arms, chest. I was also ten pounds lighter than before I had my baby. My husband was also very happy. I strongly recommend this video if you want to get a workout and feel so much better overall. Yes, she's perky, but I just found myself laughing at her phrases: "Healthy body, healthy baby," "hug your baby using those strong abdominals." Like I said before, I did it everyday or else I wouldn't have survived. And like Denise Austin, I even worked out the day I delivered, honest! That's how great her video made me feel, even when I was too tired to push the play button on the dvd player.

I have three pregnancy workout videos and this one is my favorite. I also have buns of steel and fit mama. This workout is the toughest of the three, anyone who claims it is too easy is using too light of weights. I started out with 5 pound weights but am going to go up to 10 pounds for a couple of the exercises. If you feel up to it, you can pause it and do extra reps.

I am pregnant with my third child, and have always used the Denise Austin pregnancy video. After my second child I gave my video away. because I thought I was done having babies. Now, six years later I am pregnant again and wanted a DVD of that same video, but they didnt make it in DVD, so I tried other pregnancy videos from other people and I didnt like any of them. Finally Denise came out with this brand new DVD and it is better than the other one!!! I love it and do it all the time. She is by far the best in excercise videos!!!
Enjoy!

This is a wondeful prenatal workout!!! I haven't worked out for a few years and decided to give this a try in my first trimester. It's very easy to follow, motivating, and energizing. The cardio leaves me wanting to do more!!!!

Enjoyable, moderate workout,

Denise Austin is not my favorite, but this is a good prenatal workout video. I like the way the video is broken into 20 minute sections and you can choose your workout based on your trimester. The 20 minute segments make it easy to squeeze in some quick exercise if you are short on time or energy. I am 20 weeks now and plan to continue using this workout as long as I can.
