4.0 out of 5 stars Great for clumsy, overweight beginners like me!
This video is a favorite of mine. I have my original from 1992 and I just ordered another in case the first wears out! It is easy to learn and follow. I've tried others that are just too fast and exhausting and by the time I understand one move, they're already on another. The "average" person who is using this to lose weight and tone up will appreciate...

3.0 out of 5 stars For the Beginner
I bought this video some time ago and although it is a basic workout it was a great introduction to Step. I still get a good workout when I do the tape and feel like I've actually been challenged. The moves are basic though and it is only towards the end that I am actually working hard I skip the toning part of the tape.

I am one bundle of sweat when I finish this one but I keep coming back to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Beginners, May 11, 2001

I don't know what the other people are talking about. I absolutely loved this video. I have tried several other Step tapes (The Firm Cardio Step Mix, Reebok, Kathy Smith) and talk about hard to follow! Denise is very easy to follow, she shows each change slowly first and I love the music in it. My girlfriend has been using this tape for 1 1/2 years and still swears she gets a sweat. I wish it was a little longer though! If you are a beginner, get this tape!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best step tape I have ever used!, November 3, 2002

This review is from: Denise Austin's Step Workout featuring the Reebok Step [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I like Denise's bubbly and encouraging personality. I think this is the best tape out there. I have lost over 10 pounds using this tape. I use three pound weights for the first segment. I am also using the 8 inch step. Anyone can do this tape and lose weight. I think that it is good for beginners and people who are more advanced. If you are nervous about trying step aerobics but want to try it, this is the tape for you. Just take your time and have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite Aerobic Workout Ever, March 5, 2009
By
This review is from: Denise Austin's Step Workout featuring the Reebok Step [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have had this tape since it came out. I own nearly all the Denise Austin, Kathy Smith and Tamilee Webb workouts. Over the years, this has been an absolute favorite. The variety of moves keeps my mind from drifting to "I can't wait to finish." Though I'm on again off again with working out, I always am thrilled to come back to this tape. I'm always amazed how the 40 minutes flies by. Once in a while I get too fit for it, and so I just add hand and ankle weights or increase the step height.
All muscle groups are hit, including abs. There's no bouncy moves, so I consider it low impact on my joints, yet high impact on my benefits.
The music is upbeat, but doesn't go out of style. And Denise is low key, not much talking and she keeps good track of keeping right and left sets even. Exceptional queing.
The workout has always gotten results for me super fast. Now I wish it were on DVD--as I'm wearing out the tape.

4.0 out of 5 stars great for beginners..., March 5, 2010
This review is from: Denise Austin's Step Workout featuring the Reebok Step [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a good, basic workout for beginners, and for those of us who prefer simple, straightforward workouts without complex choreography. If you're a more advanced stepper, you may be bored to tears with this one! But for those of us starting out, or who haven't worked out in quite some time, this fits the bill.

My only complaint (hence 4 out of 5 stars) is the low quality of the VHS and sound. The music sometimes is too loud, and you can't hear Denise. And Denise really needs a microphone! She should create a DVD version with better sound quality.

Otherwise, once you do this a couple times the sound quality won't be an issue. It's a 25 minute aerobic workout, followed by some toning. All in all, a good purchase.

I actually like Denise's personality - perky just suits her ^^

IF you can stand Denise's super chatty style, this one is okay if you need a quick workout but don't expect a real burn or even much sweat unless you're a true beginner. If you are, this one is a great introduction to step and can really get your heart rate up but if you've been at it even three times a week for a few months, this one is good if you're short on time or having a low-energy day.

This is a great tape. It is so easy and not boring like other step tapes. Especially for older people, it is stress and strain free. You can keep up at your own pace and the timing shows great patience on Denise's part. I would recommend it highly. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Denise Austin is Great!, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Denise Austin's Step Workout featuring the Reebok Step [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I previously owned this VHS tape for 10 years. It just started skipping when playing it so I went on Amazon.com and found it for sale. I was so excited because it is my favorite exercise video, ever.

I've been doing step aerobics for a long time, and this video was not one I got much out of. If you want a good step video/DVD, choose Gin Miller or Kathy Smith. They're big hitters.
