I'm African-American with thick curly hair and this brush gets the job done when I'm in the shower brushing through conditioner. I adore this brush. I simply couldn't live without it since I have natural hair. I did remove 4 rows of teeth from the brush though but just so it could go through my hair easier.

I highly reccomend this product because without it, I surely would have dreads! :)

If you have curly hair this is that best brush you can have for your hair. I have African American curly hair so I only brush my hair when it is wet to help make my curls clump better.
This brush works better than the knock off you find in the regular drug store

I have 4b (mostly... There's some 3c and 4c in there somewhere) hair, and I tried this brush with all 7 of it's rows. It worked very well and did it's job in detangling. However, it was difficult to get through some portions of my hair, so I removed the rubber base (that was a bit difficult, but understandable because I doubt it's the company's intention to have it removable) and I removed few rows (every other row). It now has 5 rows and it's much easier to glide through. The brush makes it so much easier to detangle. It did remove a LOT of shed hair, because, honestly, prior to buying this brush, I did not detanlgle often. I'll try to attach a photo in the gallery photos.

I had been avoiding this item despite reading raves about it on all my curly/nappy forums. I thought my wide tooth comb did a decent job in detangling my 4b hair, but this brush is like butter. My hair feels great after using it, I feel it helps get all conditioner/product to each strand. Highly recommend this to any curly heads.

My sister-in-law gave me this brush about 30 years ago. I really like the fact that it doesn't irritate my scalp, yet gives a good "massage". But what I really like, being as frugal as I am, is that it lasted 30 years. The rubber base that the bristles attach to has finally succumbed. What other brush works so well and costs less than 35 cents per year to use? Guess I'm just going to have to get another one -- likely my last since I'm already 62 years old. But if I do need a second one in another 30 years, still have hair, and remember, I'll surely buy another.

What can you say about a hair brush? I've had a Denman....just like this one....for 20 years and it still works great. I don't have as much hair as I used to, but the brush doesn't care. I just bought a 2nd one for my "road kit", since I travel a lot in my work.

Brushes are like any other personal item....everyone's taste differs. I like this one because it's the perfect balance between stiffness and softness, i.e. it doesn't rub your scalp raw, but it's strong enough to do the job. The plastic bristles don't have sharp edges to poke into your scalp, like other/cheaper brushes do. And did I say it lasts forever???

Get one....you won't regret it.

Growing up in England, I always had a Denman or Mason Pearson brush. After moving to America and finally wearing out or losing all of my brushes, I went to Walgreens to find another. I think I've tried just about every brand of brush; Conair, Revlon, Vidal Sasson, Goodie, Kent.... the list goes on. At one point I did find one nice Revlon brush, but I lost it and by that time it was discontinued. I went through a hairbrush every two months, it seemed. The nubs on the top of the bristles would catch on a tangle in my hair and sometimes rip my hair out. I would get disgusted because lint would get caught around the bristles and the nub on the top of the bristle wouldn't allow the lint to be cleaned off. The actual bristle holes would get dirty, and cleaning them was a chore which involved my nail brush and a toothpick. Not to mention, all of these brushes felt cheap and poorly designed. I bought a boar bristle brush from Conair (which I am still very pleased with), but the bristles weren't enough to get the job done, especially when my hair was wet. Finally, after much aggravation, I asked my mother about the hairbrushes I remembered from England, and then began my search on Amazon. I found this product. I bought two. They are exactly how my mother and I remember them. The bristles aren't too sharp and feel divine against the scalp. Any lint or stray hairs are easily removed from the bristles (no annoying nub on the top!). If the holes get dirty, the rubber cushion can be removed from the handle, the bristles pulled out, and everything can be given a good washing. Re-assembly is very easy and straightforward. Even so, I don't find myself having to clean this brush very often.Read more ›
