A rather bland description of a dynamic individual, September 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Dennis Banks: Native American Activist (Native American Biographies (Enslow)) (Library Binding)
This biography appears to be a compilation of assorted facts, the sources of which are readily apparent to the knowledgeable reader who need not even look at the chapter notes. It appears questionable whether Cheatham ever met the very gentle, yet tough, dynamic and charismatic Dennis Banks whose personality is nowhere to be found in this biography of one of the 20th century's most important American Indian men.
The book is much more a history of the American Indian Movement and even there, some of the material is misleading. There are also some typos
I still recommend this book by default since there is a dearth of material available for youth about contemporary Native American heroes and there is, unfortunately little accurate and meaningful material readily available about Dennis Banks.
