Editorial Reviews

If you heard wah-wah guitar on a classic Motown record, it was probably Dennis- the guitarist of choice during the golden age of Detroit soul. His solo stuff and Black Belt Jones soundtrack have been sampled ad infinitum ; now, he returns with a new album of funky, fuzzed-out psychedelic soul. Members of the Dirtbombs and Detroit Cobras and other guests join him as he attacks old songs and new ones: 7th Galaxy; Knockabout; Space Traveler; Don't Knock My Love; All Your Goodies Are Gone , and more on CD or double-vinyl!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Worthy Effort From The Funk Master August 18, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is a great sounding album, and a welcome return from the Detroit funk pioneer. Some of the collaborations on this album (particularly the tracks featuring Meyer Hawthorne and Paolo Nutini)add some warmth and soul to the music, and will hopefully bring Dennis more of the recognition he has so long deserved. The highlights of the album though, to no one's surprise, are the instrumentals Dennis is so well known for. The instrumentals on this album stand up well next to his best work. The second half of the album scorches, just as you'd expect from the funk guitar genius. Dennis Coffey is back, and as good as ever!

5.0 out of 5 stars the Detroit Sound of Dennis Coffey April 26, 2011
Format:MP3 Music
I am loving the sound of Dennis Coffey covering some great funk and soul and rock and roll. He is such a big part of the Detroit sound, and the man has been kicking it out for over 45 years. Amazing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get you moving to the beat March 26, 2012
Format:MP3 Music
I listen metal and picked this disc up on a whim for the cover.
WOW!
Dennis kicks major butt.
From start to finish each song is different from the last but, always going back to that scorching guitar.
Like I said, I listen to Savatage, Maiden and the like, so this is not written by a fan boy.
This guy is the real deal genuinely genius.
I'm just sorry that I didn't find out about him until he was 71 years old.
I hope I can see a show one of these days.
Buy this disc!
