A nostalgic look back at a childhood lifestyle that has vanished,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Dennis the Menace and His Girls (Mass Market Paperback)
"Dennis the Menace" is one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time, yet when one looks around the modern world, his antics seem a bit quaint. He is a tough kid and willing to stand and fight to prove it, an action considered abhorrent in the current environment. His actions are that of a true kid, enjoying life, being bad on occasion and suffering the consequences of punishment. The world was simpler in Dennis' world, so reading the Dennis cartoon strip is a nostalgic look back for people that grew up decades ago. That world is gone in reality, existing only in memories and on paper and it was nice to experience it once again. |
