Dennis Mitchell (Jay North) is back for one final season of calamity, aggravation and hilarity.
With the permanent departure of the grumpy curmudgeon Mr. George Wilson, it’s up to his brother John Wilson (Gale Gordon) to step in as Dennis’ ’creative’ muse. Together they team up for a whirlwind round of escapades and mishaps including a trip to the zoo, a visit to the local hermit, a search for the neighborhood monster and a sleepover at the Wilsons’ house! Along for the ride are Dennis’ folks Henry (Herbert Anderson) and Alice (Gloria Henry), his best buddy Tommy (Billy Booth) and his no-nonsense adversary Margaret (Jeannie Russell).

Roxbury/Infinty have had a rocky time releasing Route 66 on DVD. The first half of season one used poor quality prints, including one edited episode. The second half of season one was originally released with the aspect ratio altered. The aspect ratio was corrected with the complete first season release, but the poor quality prints remained. Season two came off without a hitch, but the "Best Buy exclusive" release of season three was marred by disc authorship problems. I am happy to report that the corrected release (packaged in a yellow-hued plastic as another commenter has noted) has played well, though with the disc rattle that has plagued several Infinty releases. The A/V quality on this release is good, if not up to Image Entertainment standards. Solid blacks and little debris present. Also, there is no episode list contained in this set. The show itself is, of course, one of the best in US TV history, so it's worth overlooking the minor quibbles (disc rattle and no booklet).

Here is the final season of this classic series. Would like to thank Shout Factory for releasing this fine series from the past. It will bring lots of laughs and memories to those of us who grew up with Jay North and friends.

It's great to have these episodes available on DVD, but the first disc is obviously unbalanced and vibrates so violently it sounds like it's going to shake my DVD player apart. Also, it would have been a small matter to include an enclosure listing the episode titles, but there was nothing. Still, I'm happy to have it.

One of the best shows of the 1960's
I love to watch this show. Since the death of Joseph Kearns in the 3rd season, Gayle Gordon does a good job of substituting for Mr. Wilson. Read more

LOVE IT!!!!
I used to watch this show when I was a kid, of course, when I watched them they were all reruns. Regardless, watching these episodes just brings back such warm memories.

Route 66 - Complete Third Season
I previously purchased parts of the 3rd season, so for me, some discs are duplicates. However, the product is very good and I enjoy watching this old program.

without joe
there is no show. it is impossible to sit through gale gordon as mr. wilson. joe was the heart and soul of the show. Sylvia Fields was also much missed.

Even with out Joseph Kearns, still a great show

Bad discs
I have season 1 & 2 of Route 66 and they are fine. Unfortunately season 3 seems to have a problem. Discs 1, 2 and 4 make a terrible pounding sound and won't play. Read more
