Great affordable receiver from Denon
I am extremely happy that I chose Denon AVR-1905. It is more than an entry-level receiver that offers 7.1 output and plenty of connections. I have it hooked up in 6.1 mode and it sounds awesome. Component video up-conversion is a blessing while connecting to your T.V. You don't have to fiddle with multiple remotes any more since you connect just one cable to your T.V...

Mixed Feelings
I really enjoy my AVR-1905. However, after less than 1.5 years I lost the left channel on the analogue audio. My attempts to contact Denon USA customer service were completely frustrating: long--we're talking about 25-30 minutes--periods on hold, then, once getting someone to pick up--if anyone picked up at all, that person either could not speak discernable English or...

I am extremely happy that I chose Denon AVR-1905. It is more than an entry-level receiver that offers 7.1 output and plenty of connections. I have it hooked up in 6.1 mode and it sounds awesome. Component video up-conversion is a blessing while connecting to your T.V. You don't have to fiddle with multiple remotes any more since you connect just one cable to your T.V monitor. I get great picture quality even when I am watching VHS. Denon's speaker test mode coupled with my sound meter helped me achieve flatness in sound.The receiver has plenty of component-video and S-video connections. As such it has 4 composite inputs but since you would not use composite for DVD and DBS inputs, it left me with two composite inputs for VHS and Karaoke system. That's the only downside I found. Great product overall. You cannot go wrong with Denon.

Just learned that Denon,of which I own a high end cassette deck, has outsourced its parts and accessories to a company in Florida. This may or may not be a good thing,but I do not like being referred by DNN holdings to another place when I just want to buy a remote control for one of their cassette decks. Yes the remote for the deck comes with their receivers, and the implication is that I might want to buy a receiver and get the remote. Merry Christmas Yuletide joke of the week. Sorry if you as I love the build quality and features. It may be well to look into the high end Sonys, Pioneers, and a few others. Aloha, Gerry
