Precisely designed for high-power, high-quality sound reproduction, the AVR-785S contains a specially architected chassis that absorbs vibration and delivers a more faithful reproduction of the original sound. In addition, Denon's Twin Drive Rectifier supplies ample current to accurately depict deep bass frequencies as well as sudden bursts of sound from percussion or other musical instruments. Meanwhile, the large aluminum extruded heat sink ensures that all the channels respond equally to the demands of the audio signals. The receiver sounds particularly good when playing DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD sources, as its power amp circuits are meticulously designed to reproduce a wide 10 Hz to 100 kHz frequency response.
You'll also never be at a loss for creative surround algorithms with the AVR-785S, irrespective of your listening source. The receiver's onboard surround processing includes Dolby Digital Surround EX, DTS, DTS 96/24 5.1 for DVD-Video, DTS ES Discrete 6.1, DTS ES Matrix 6.1, Neo: 6 Cinema and Music modes, and Dolby Pro Logic IIx (for cinema, music, and games). Dolby Pro Logic IIx processing is the first technology to convert traditional stereo music and movie content into room-filling 5.1- or 6.1-channel sound. Listeners will also enjoy the variety of DSP modes, including modes that simulate rock arenas and jazz clubs, and the specially designed video game and matrix movie modes.
On top of the surround processing modes, the AVR-785S offers an endless array of features designed to improve your audio flexibility. With multi-source/multi-zone capability, you can simultaneously enjoy music or video on a second set of speakers in another room, without needing a separate amplifier. To make video connections simpler and more intuitive, the AVR-785S also offers video up-conversion for composite and/or S-video sources. Video up-conversion translates all the signals to high-bandwidth component video with absolutely no compromise in video quality.
Finally, the receiver performs 24-bit, 96 kHz analog-to-digital conversion on all stereo analog inputs except the multichannel analog jacks, along with 24-bit/192 kHz high-resolution digital-to-analog conversion on all eight surround channels to ensure premium playback sound. In addition, the adjustable high- and low-pass crossovers (40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, 200, and 250) let you tailor the sound to suit your speakers and listening space.
Video connectivity stems from the three assignable sets of component video inputs, three S-video inputs, and four sets of composite inputs. Audio-wise, the receiver includes eight analog RCA stereo inputs and four digital inputs (one coaxial and three optical), along with a six-channel external analog input.
