Detailed Features:
  • Progressive Scan featuring DCDi by Faroudja: Progressive Scan technology represents a vast improvement over the interlaced scanning method used in TV broadcasts and other conventional applications, as it can process around twice as much video data to produce a sharper, noise-free picture with finer details. High-definition video images are faithfully displayed with optimum naturalness and beauty. Now, this DCDi technology that was available only in the higher-end DVD players has been included in Denon's affordable DVD-910.
  • DVD-R/RW Playback (*1): With the increasing presence of DVD recorders, consumers are increasingly recording audio and video material onto DVD discs. These discs can be played back on the DVD-910.
  • CD-R/RW (MP3/Windows Media Audio/JPEG/Kodak Picture CD) Playback (*1): The DVD-910 supports the CD-R/RW format. It plays finalized CDR/RW discs (single-session or multi-session) containing MP3/WMA8 audio files. It also reads still photos in the Kodak Picture CD or JPEG format taken by a digital camera. WMA (Windows Media Audio) is an audio compression format developed with Microsoft technology. It claims to offer the highest quality sound available in the industry. If WMA is used to compress a music CD on a PC, for instance, using the new Encoder 8, the quality of sound at 48 kbps is said to be equivalent to that of the original CD. WMA is now becoming a standard audio compression format rivaling the popularity of MP3.
  • 54-MHz high resolution video D/A converter
  • 24-bit, 192-kHz high resolution audio D/A converters
  • Picture zooming (2x or 4x): During play, when you press the Zoom button on the remote control, you can enlarge the picture by 2x or 4x. Use the cursor to move the enlarged viewing area up, down, to the left, or to the right.
  • A Wealth of Playback Functions: The DVD-910 includes a wide variety of playback functions, such as Resume Play, for returning to the Pause position on the disc after the playback was restarted; Slow Play; Repeat Play (A-B, Chapter, Track, Disc); Random Play, and Program Play.
  • VSS (Virtual Surround Sound): Enjoy enveloping surround sound using just one pair of speakers.
  • Discrete Remote Control commands for Power On/Off
  • Display Dimmer Key
  • Slim and Compact Design with Aluminum Front Panel: The DVD-910 features a slim, compact design only 75 mm in height, and the front panel is made of strong, high-grade aluminum. When combined with a Denon A/V surround amp of uniform design, the matching front panels give a touch of elegance to any decor.
  • Color Component Video Output: The DVD-910 provides color component video (Y, CB/PB, CR/PR) output that ensure the best reproduction of fine color detail with today’s high-end video monitors and large screen projectors that feature component video inputs. This connection method provides the best video quality compared to S-video and composite video connections.
  • Matching navigational controls are provided on the front panel as well as the remote control unit: An arrow keys for 4 directions are provided on the front panel as well as the remote control unit. This is convenient for making menu and setup adjustments directly on the main unit when the remote controller is out of reach.
  • 2 MB Buffer Memory: This unit is equipped with a 2 MB buffer memory to ensure that both picture and sound are played without interruption when the DVD disc shifts from layer 1 to layer 2, or in the rare event of a pickup dropout.

This function also converts 16:9 images for output to 4:3 TV screens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Player, March 23, 2004

This review is from: Denon DVD-910 Progressive-Scan DVD Player , Black (Electronics)
I purchased this Denon for use with a new Sony KV34HS510. I had a 6 year old Onkyo 600 that had an awesome picture but,it did not have progressive scan, nor did it play CD-R's (this always bothered me). I first bought a SONY DVPNC665P & SONY DVPNS725P, both are fine DVD players, but the 725P is poor on progressive scan and the 665P had a good picture but lacked the three dimensional picture quality that the Onkyo has. I then tried the ONKYO DVCP701, which produced very subtle green spots. At first thought I was crazy, but then it became very evident on movies like BlackHawk Down, with an almost entirely tan earth tone back ground. So, I took it back to the store and this time decided to try the Denon (I hadn't read the previous reviews). Well, it works great! The picture quality and sound quality are excellent, and I do not have any of the issues that the previous reviews mentioned on my Sony TV. The Denon plays my DVD-RW & DVD+RW's without any problems. I will say for all those that label their DVD+R or DVD-R's, the Denon does not like the labels and will cause freezing or skiping. This does not happen with labeled CD's. Over all this is a good quality player at a low price ( especially compared to other Denon models).

5.0 out of 5 stars Working Well, April 2, 2004
This review is from: Denon DVD-910 Progressive-Scan DVD Player , Black (Electronics)
I disagree with the folks pooh pooh'ing this player. I have this player hooked up into a samsung 61" dlp projection tv and the video is awesome whether you are watching you've got mail or terminator. What you need to do is read the manual...unlike many of the older dvd players, this player has a set up menu which allows you better match the output quality with the capabilities of your TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars No complaints. Works perfectly., October 11, 2005
This review is from: Denon DVD-910 Progressive-Scan DVD Player , Black (Electronics)
I've had this dvd player hooked up to a Samsung 50" DLP for two years now and I've never had one problem. The picture is beautiful. Highly recommended.

I'm buying a new DVD player for the other room and I'm getting another Denon. That's actually what I was doing when I decided to write this review.
