Comprehensive Preparation Guide for Dental Terminology,
This review is from: Dental Terminology (Paperback)
This book is an excellent guide for the dental field. It is very well organized and concise, yet very informative. It is very easy to reference topics and the language is very clear. The spectrum of topics is vast, but not overwhelming. It covers subjects that are currently used in the dental office. It gives the reader clear information on topics such as material and techniques, management, procedures, and basic functions needed for the student and practicing dental professional. The diskette containing the review questions and exercises is very comprehensive and challenging. This is truly a great book for anyone in the denatl field!

The text is very useful for the individual who does not have any dental experience, as well as a nice reference for someone trying to explain terminology to a novice. There is a lot of valuable information in the book and on the CD. Everything is presented with clarity. It is a great resource for your own personal dental library.

I would recommend this book for anyone who interesting in the dental field. I found that it very useful and easy to understand. The only thing I don't like about is because I ordered the used one and it come with a smoke smell. I'm not a smoker so it really bothering me so I leave it on the table for a while hopefully the odor will be gone soon. Well, the seller mistake about my address so it took for like almost a month to arrived.

I have found that with my dental Assisting students, many of them do not
"get" pronunciation. Granted, there are many medical/dental terms which defy regular rules, but some are a given. This book, especially, with the CD was a real help to those students as they were starting out. Great for self-study. N. Kehr National School of Dental Assisting-Stockton [...]

Excellent resource for dental students,
This review is from: Dental Terminology (Paperback)
Learning the correct definitions and pronunciations of dental terminology is key for anyone studying to work in the dentistry field and Charline Dofka's book, Dental Terminology, is an essential resource for those students.
The book is clear, comprehensive and well organized. Each chapter contains optional exercises that a person could use to test how well he or she is retaining the information found in the chapter. There is also an appendix that breaks down dental terminology to prefixes, suffixes and root words, making it easier for someone to intuitively understand a dental term. Another great feature is the "sounds like" pronunciation tool and the CD that allows students to hear the words and phrases in question being articulated. Near the end of the book, there are chapters that will help with the business and financial side of the dentistry field, including ones on office communications, appointment control, patient records and filing procedures, business correspondence, dental insurance terms, financial disbursement and banking, inventory control and legal and ethical terms. If someone you know is entering the field of dentistry, this volume would make a terrific gift. Dental Terminology would also make a thoughtful present for a dental hygienist re-entering the field who is in need of a quick refresher/reference guide. |
