5.0 out of 5 stars Alternative to a proper Dental Cement
I was able to install my mom porcelain fixed bridge with this cement, i was a bit skeptic about the product but since i have no alternative to obtain a proper dental adhesive cement, i decided to try it. And it work!

3.0 out of 5 stars Short term help with Dentemp but messy to work with
Dentemp is obviously not intended to replace the dentist but rather to serve as an emergency assist until you can see one. Keep that in mind, and you'll likely be happier with the product and more forgiving of it's negative points. Like very messy to install into a tooth - unless you have a straight forward loss of filling or something similar. And unless you have someone...

And unless you have someone to help, it's probably going to be very difficult to see what you're doing. You'll end up with lots of little pieces of the Dentemp in your mouth when done. It's a two part mix, powder and liquid and getting the consistency right is a challenge, at least the first time out. A missing filling should be easy to fill and keep the Dentemp confined but if you have a tooth with a broken piece, or a crown that's come loose you'll find it difficult to get the cement where you need it and keep it there until it cures. Once set, it is a fairly sturdy repair for a few days max. Then you'll start to find small pieces of the Dentemp in your mouth and eventually it will all come out. You can eat on it, but not just anything you want. My experience is you should try to stay away from most things other than soft food on the filled tooth. See your dentist at the earliest convenience; this is NOT a long term fix.

1.0 out of 5 stars If you can, buy/get Temp Bond instead., June 20, 2010

I tried it. It just didn't hold. Lower front tooth with crown-post could not be secured in its hole with this product.

Clearly, Dentemp is no "Temp Bond" (usually used by dentists for temporary bonding until crown is prepared). I tried to buy "Temp Bond" (about $30-$35 for 50 single use packets) over the internet but you have to be a dental professional. What a croc!

I ended up going having to go to the dentist. He was professional, checked-out my crown including dental x-rays, re-cemented it and billed me $50. His name is Dr. David M. Vierhus, DDS, San Jose, CA.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great emergency patch-up kit, May 2, 2010

I stocked up on a 6-pack of Dentemp "just in case" about two years ago and yesterday, thanks to a dodgy bone-containing hamburger, I ended up breaking the corner off one of my top-left molars. Out came the Dentemp for a real-world application. The instructions were easy to follow (very important when you're in pain!) and the product mixed up just as the instructions said it would. Very inexpertly I applied a small putty ball to the corner of the broken tooth and after the initial pain of contact the anaesthetic went to work. The taste in my mouth was pungent and long-lasting but frankly all I cared about was whether or not the patch would work. After all, this is a product designed to replace missing fillings and re-glue crowns, not adhere to a jagged edge of a tooth with lots of exposed soft pulp and little to cling on to.

After an hour the sticky paste had dried, and later that day I was able to eat and drink (carefully...) without dislodging it. The next morning it came off and I replaced it, this time more expertly (practice makes perfect). Basically it worked well enough to enable me to continue with a wilderness camping trip; without it I'd either have been forced to suffer significant discomfort or abandon the trip in order to head off to my dentist. So I have to rate this product pretty highly because it worked as a temporary patch. If your expectations are weeks or months of trouble-free use, then I think you'll be disappointed. But if you are looking for an emergency pain-stopper that enables you to get through a day or two before seeing your dentist for a proper repair, then I can recommend this highly.

I had to replace my 98 year old mothers crowns. This is the only stuff that works and keeps working. All the other stuff is garbage.

I lost a part of a cavity so I purchased some of this. I was leery because of some of the other reviews. I agree it starts off gooey and gets on your fingers looking like chalk. I stuck it onto the open area and stuck a paper towel into my jaw to keep it dry for a while- half an hour at least. Took a nap, and when I got up it was dry and hard. What more can you ask? I am not going to chew over there and will wait for the dentist. Oh and I did not use the whole powder sack- only a small part that I needed.

1.0 out of 5 stars no good at all, January 5, 2010

I bought this based on the only good review. The product does not harden at all, it stays in a greasy paste like zinc oxide diaper rash cream and it stinks to high heaven. I mixed exactly per directions several days ago and it still is soft. The one good review this product got had to have been a mistake.
I emailed the company the day I tried it and still have not received a reply.

1.0 out of 5 stars useless, October 26, 2009

Bought this and followed instructions to the letter. What a waste of money. Loose caps and lost fillings is definitely what you end up with even after using this stuff. I applied as instructed, just before I went to bed in the night and the texture was so soft when I applied it. It was like soft playdough. They said to bite on it and rub the teeth back and forth but most of it just rubbed off all over the other teeth.
In the morning, a big chunk came off just like that. By the time I ate my breakfast, most of it had come off while eating. I didn't have to chew on that side but this stuff is so soft and poor quality, you don't have to really do anything for it to come off. Too bad. It's such a good idea to have a product like this but unfortunatley, manufacturers don't think of quality. I would not recommend Dentemp.
