This review is from: Denver's Best Dive Bars: Drinking and Diving in the Mile-High City (Paperback)
This is the real deal, an invaluable guide to the low spots of the Mile High City. It's also very, very funny. (The author ranks the bars, for example, from one bottle--"Your mother would be proud" to five--"Your mother might be propositioned by a meth head.") The listings cover just about anywhere a dive bar afficionado would want to go in Denver, even (and especially) its more obscure haunts. I mean, Drew Bixby climbed the stairs up to M&M's up in Five Points, not a place where everybody has been or would want to go, though it's a nice little hole to hang out in if the show at Cervantes isn't quite up to snuff. Some of the listings tell you more about the patrons and their stories than the bar itself. That was a bit of a disappointment. But there's some cool pictures to accompany the text, including one of the beer can airplane at the Hangar Bar. I just wish every one of these places got a photo. Enjoy checking these fine places out, and remember to drink responsibly.

Good book, points out some fun bars, wish it provided a little more info. Don't like the hipster rating except for the fact that it tells me which to avoid.
