I know not everyone has success with crystal deodorants, but I find they work very well for me for normal, daily use. I'll try to explain my experience for folks who haven't tried these before....

The most important thing to note is that these deodorants do not use any perfumes to cover up smells. The aluminum crystal employs antibacterial properties in preventing (or retarding) the proliferation of odor-causing bacteria on your skin. I imagine that if you sweat a lot or if your skin gets wet and "washes" away what you applied, then the bacteria starts to increase and you start to smell.

To use, you run the crystal under water for a second. Getting it wet causes the outer part to slightly dissolve, I think. Then you wipe the wet (dissolved) part on your skin. You don't even feel it, but there is a thin layer left on your skin, I believe. (Note: it takes a VERY long time to dissolve the whole crystal. My last one lasted several years. Sometimes you just want to get a replacement if over time the crystal dissolves in a way that gives it sharp edges, but this, too, can take a very long time.)

One thing that I like about this crystal deodorant is that it does not irritate my skin like regular use of other deodorants used to. Now, I can use a "normal" deodorant occasionally when I really need the extra protection, and that infrequent use does not cause irritation anymore.

I've tried a couple brands, and I like this crystal deodorant because it is a good size and shape (nice and wide and smooth) and is a good deal for the amount you get. Hope this is helpful!

I just tried this for the first time 2 days ago. It really works, & works well! I sweat a lot, & normal deodorant starts to give out later in the day. When I used this, I found that it lasted the entire day & well into the night. The only time I will use another product now is if I need an antiperspirant as well. Try it, you wont be sorry.

8/3/11 - Update
Well I've been using it daily for almost a month now in the Sacramento summer heat & can say that it still works as well as advertised. All day long with no "fade". Again, it is NOT AN ANTIPERSPIRANT, but if you are looking for a deodorant that lasts, this is it. I'd also like to point out that in the month, I've seen no noticeable shrinkage in the size of the crystal. At this rate, it will easily last 6 months or so.
