5.0 out of 5 stars Creepy chills climbing up my spine April 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Creepy chills climbing up my spine. That's what I had reading this the third and final book in the series. JA Templeton has done an excellent job at ending a spooky series, which started out much tamer then it ended. Without giving anything away this book is about Laria trying to destroy Riley and Riley fighting back. Riley is again a strong character who although is being seriously haunted is not complaining about it, but taking action to do something about it. Kade takes a bit more of a backseat in the story, but is still there being swoon worthy. Riley's brother and her friends are great support characters this time, as her brother grows up to the brother you would want, and her friends are like the Scooby Doo gang. The Departed is a lot spookier then the previous books, and Laria and her ghostly pals are positively evil. Have to admit I am glad I read it during the day and not in bed. Oh don't read it in bed; too much creepy stuff happens I think I would have been looking under my bed constantly.
Will I read it again? Yes
Would I recommend it? Yes

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Culmination to a Wonderful Tale June 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The third installment of this series is as riveting as the first two. The book starts out with driving action - there is no down time. I was hooked instantly and thrilled that I didn't have to read an intro chapter that summed up the prior novels in the series.

I think that the author did an amazing job at developing her antagonist Laria. She was a well-rounded, palpable character. The terror in this book created by Laria was ever-increasing and built the suspense and adrenaline steadily throughout the story.

There were times when I was happy, sad, heart-broken and relieved throughout this tale. I was truly impressed with the way that it ended, although I won't reveal it right now!

All in all, I was very happy with the way that this series grew from book 1 through the end. The idea was original and the story well-crafted. I have already recommended it to my friends, but I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a good paranormal romance, ghost story

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Ending! May 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this series, it was positively engaging and kept you reading. Truthfully I started the last book this morning and was able to finish it within a good three hours. There were a couple of errors- some I noticed, twice, where the names had been switched. It was slightly irritating, but the storyline was so good I didn't really mind. I loved the contrast between Riley and Megan- you have always seen through Riley's perspective, and you really don't realize all the effect it puts on her until you see Megan go through it as well. I gained a respect for Riley then, because I truly hadn't thought of how much she was going through because she handled it relatively well up until the end. I won't give any spoilers, but the ending truly wrapped it all up, though I still think she should've mentioned that Dana is Laria's descendant. Very good series- I look forward to more writings from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall, a great book and a great series! ^^ May 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There were some glitches that didn't add up for example the impostor scenario, mind manipulation would have been a more viable explanation. However the moments are not really noticeable and can be easily overlooked or ignored. Still some things left unanswered, but still a great story. The relationship she has with her friends is great. They're so supportive of her and just the kinds of friends every girl wishes they'd have. The scene with her brother toward the end was so heart wrenching it brought tears to my eyes. Templeton wonderfully crafted out the emotions Shane felt and you could feel the desperation and his own heartbreak just through the dialogue. The book was filled with unexpected twists and turns, heart rendering moments, moments that bring a smile to your face and make you laugh, and moments that make make the blood sizzle. A great book and a great series overall. ^^

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect ending to this amazing series! May 10, 2012

While part of me is so sad to see this series end, it was honestly past time for Riley and Kade to have their happily ever after!! I absolutely love this series, Templeton created this unbelievably eerie and frightening world for Riley's unforgettable journey, and I was captivated from start to finish. The Departed was the final leg of this journey, and it was filled to the brim with spine-tingling creepiness, heartwarming devotion, and pulse-racing excitement!!

The Departed starts out literally right where Haunted left off, with Riley having a sleepover with Cait and their friends. When evil spirit Laria makes a terrifying appearance, Riley is forced to admit everything to her friends and eventually Kade, and it becomes clear that their situation is more dire than they ever realized. While Riley has agree to put the past behind them and get back together with Kade, there's no peace for her thanks to the unending torment from Laria and her band of malevolent spirits. Riley and her friends face constant terror, forcing them to take matters into their own hands. With the help of some friendly haunts, they hope to finally send Laria's spirit away for good. If only they can stay alive long enough to succeed...

The Departed was by far the most frightening book of this series. Laria and her cohorts are more bold and malicious, taking their hauntings to the point of The Exorcist on steroids!! Honestly, Riley just could NOT catch a break in this book, it was beyond the scope of what any normal human could ever endure! She's grown so much in this series, and the strength she has this time around was incredible. She finally has the support of her friends, and it gives her new purpose and bravery to endure the barrage of attacks.
