5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome way to light
I have a village that grows more every year. I purchased 4 of these several years ago and came back to find more. I love that I can light so many houses and have only one cord. My husband made me special tables for my village and I drilled holes to put the cords through so they don't show. I agree they are a bit expensive but it beats having so many cords to hide.

I have a Halloween Village that had a ton of extension cords and had to hide a lot of wiring. Several of my pieces have sound as well as lights so this will not work for them. I did not have any pieces with just lights that I could swap out the light cords but the ones that attach to ac adapters worked great - except there were only 3 of them so I ended up purchasing another 6 of the plain cords (like for the light posts, or simple pieces). Which, by the way, you can order through

(Bronners Christmas) because Amazon doesn't have them. I think it's pricey for the functionality. If you have a majority of pieces with just the lights this would be great as is.

1.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced with VERY limited number of lights, December 17, 2010

The whole concept is bad from the get go. Having what amounts to be a bulky 'power strip' where one plugs in each and every single socket is ridiculous. These are LED's not halogen lamps guys. Not rocket science!

When is someone going to come out with a simple string of LED's (just like a string of lights for a Xmas tree) using a THINNER white cord spaced far enough apart to place each socket in each building without having the buildings too close together.

One power supply (transformer that is NOT a 'brick') for the whole string with the ability to add additional lights.

Done!

Makes lighting up your Dept. 56 village very simple. Much easier than using standard plug-ins and takes up less space making your village appear less cluttered.

4.0 out of 5 stars must need for a large village, November 30, 2011

I only have 5 village's as of right now and get one every year for Christmas.I wasn't about ready to plug a power strip into another power strip in order to display my Christmas village. This light system is great! I only have one village that won't work with it due to the attachment the village has :( But all the others fit perfectly and less clutter of wires!

I gave this 4 stars because of the price. But Amazon was the cheapest ANYWHERE by $25! It's a good investment if you have several villages displayed all at one time/place.

This is the 3rd set of these lighting systems I have bought for my Dept 56 village. Can't say enough good things about these and how they make setting up and organizing your village a snap. One thing for sure is to stock up on the accessory cords that are sold separately enabling you to just plug in all those lighted accessories to the lighting system bar and eliminate those cumbersome adaptors.
