If you are looking for a simple and concise explanation of the nature and causes of depression, with a relatively honest and thorough coverage of treatment options, this book is one you should certainly own. At first glance the book may seem cartoon-ish and amateur, but for the layman its simplicity is invaluable. I dearly appreciated the clear graphics and well-written text which accompanied them. So many people today are being treated for depression and being prescribed drugs for depression, and my own experiences with doctors and research lead me to list this book as the very first one I would buy for someone who thinks they might be clinically depressed. It simplifies the pharmacy and neurology of the problem for the layman, and yet still manages to be informative and far less nebulous or biased than other texts I have read on the subject. The only possible problem I have with this book is that as newer and newer drugs come onto the market, it may start to become outdated. I hope there will be a new edition in the future.

Depression: How it happens How it's healed

I purchased and read this book many years ago. Then recently a friend was having problems with depression and I ordered her a copy as well. I would recommend it if you are just learning about depression. Very basic, with lots of visual aids.
