5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD
I love this CD. Its very well done for an EP. The lyrics are interesting. I like the way they blend the singing and screaming, because when all a band does is scream, it gets really boring. And its not that annoying type of screaming either. For the price, its a great value. I have had this CD for about a year now and I'm still not sick of it like I am with some others...

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh please, give me a break
Almost all of these songs were rip offs (lyrically and instrumentally). They ripped off Thursday, Random Task, Jets to Brazil, Saves the Day, and the majority of underground NJ bands (which most mentioned other than one ARE, and where they are from).

The song about Steven was written about a kid that was killed in their school (Lakeland Regional in NJ, I...

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh please stop the emo bashing, finally a DIFFERENT band, September 7, 2005
By
This review is from: From the Depths of Dreams (Dig) (Audio CD)
Hey there i'm from the UK and have been listening to Senses Fail and many other emo/screamo bands for years now. The thing that seprates these guys from all the other swept black hair wannabes is that these guys actually have something to say. They're not writing lyrics about broken hearts or kissing girls the lyrics are much deeper than that and come across as the words of a band who are both intelligent and a band who have fun doing what they do.

This EP especially is amazing, opening with Steven, the song the band wrote about their dead friend, very moody very well put just excellent. Similar stuff ensues until standout track 187 which is as close as Senses Fail get to conforming to their scene, even this beauty of a song is amazing and lyrics and drums are still predominant. Track 7 'Hanguns...' is my favourite track on the EP and just has the raw energy that so many generic emo bands are missing. The EP finishes off with the fantastic acoustic version of The Ground Folds which i think is even better than the original.

Basically if you like the genre of music you will be blown away by Senses Fail, if your some vegetating old grump then you'll hate it, go back to listening to Guns'N'Roses and all the othe bands that are either broken up or dead and move over, because this band are the future

5.0 out of 5 stars A good addition to the already great drive-thru label., May 29, 2003
This review is from: From the Depths of Dreams (Dig) (Audio CD)
I listen to a vast variety of good bands. Everything from Thursday, down to All-American Rejects. I also enjoy the melodic-hardcore sounds of Hopesfall. Though, I must say that no band that I have heard even compares to Senses Fail. The best thing about this band, as far as presence, is that they are still up-and-coming. They haven't been ruined by MTV yet, as many bands have. I am a dedicated fan of Drive-Thru records. I think that Senses Fail is the best addition to the label they have ever made. This band is not even comparable to others, but if I were to compare, I would say that they are similar to Finch, though much harder, with even more intriguing lyrics. Definitely one of the best cd's I have ever heard. This cd would go well with Taking Back Sunday's "Tell All Your Friends" and Finch's "What It Is To Burn." This cd should also be coupled with Thursday in your cd player. This style is where pop-punk is headed, and from where I stand, that is a very good place. Best bet for you would be to go buy this cd, there's something for everyone to love in their music.

5.0 out of 5 stars One EP You Won't Wanna Live Without, June 19, 2004
This review is from: From the Depths of Dreams (Dig) (Audio CD)
I will admit that I am not a fan of buying EP's. I'd rather just buy a complete album at full price than an EP with fewer tracks but cost less. Well, after hearing ONE EIGHT SEVEN and finding out that this EP was only 5.99, I was suckered in. You should definetly buy this album if you are a fan of Taking Back Sunday, Matchbook Romance, or any emo for that matter. The album comes in at 32 minutes, so if you have the Taking Back Sunday cd you will realize that this is about the same length. Here is a song by song review.

Steven 5/5 Great opener, tribute to a friend's death.
Free Fall Without A Parachute 4/5 Catchy, A little repetitive
Bloody Romance 5/5 Maybe best on album, listen and you'll love it.
Dreaming A Reality 4/5 Not the best but still great
The Ground Folds 4/5 Only a 4 because aquistic is better
One Eight Seven 5/5 Extreme lyrics attached to a song that you will not be able to get rid of. You'll either love it or hate it, but I'm pretty sure if you're reading this you'll love it.
Handguns and Second Chances 4/5 Short and Worst on EP. Good though
The Ground Folds 5/5 3rd best, good way to end the album.

You won't go wrong with spending six bucks on this. I can't wait till their first actually album comes out. These guys are truly destined to be great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Amazing Band, April 30, 2003
By
This review is from: From the Depths of Dreams (Dig) (Audio CD)
i cant think of another band that is able to do what this band does on every song...amazing lyrics, emotional singing, signature guitars, and exciting drumming
these guys are truly amazing and unique, noone else sounds quite like them...and that's what makes them great
everybody i know who has listened to them, even if they are not into this style music, acknowledge the fact that these guys got loads of talent.
if you like anyone else on the Drive-Thru label, this band will become one of your favorites...if you have never heard of the Drive Thru label or Senses Fail, i strongly recommend you give these guys a listen because it's a sin not to.
they are a little harder than most on Drive Thru(ex. NFG, Homegrown) but are more like Finch.

Track 6 - "187" is an amazing and my personal favorite, if i could explain Senses Fail in one song this would be it, great lyrics, great guitars, and never gets old...these guys rule

Rock On Senses Fail

Sjan Preston (Coeur d'Alene, ID USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: From the Depths of Dreams (Dig) (Audio CD)
I'm sick of reading bash reviews on Amazon, listening to people bicker between reviews and the like, so I thought I'd write an honest review, for people actually interested in the band. It's a shame reading reviews on people not even fans of the music or the band. Good reasons to not like it would be good too, but we don't even get that much. Ok. I've said what I wanted about that. Now, the review.

From the Depths of Dreams starts out strong, and has many catchy riffs throughout the album, and very solid, talented drumwork. It's a lot like most of the other screamo bands out there nowadays, but no matter what song, you can always pick Senses Fail out of the crowd, mostly because of Buddy Neilson's memorable vocals. A nice touch to the album is the acoustic version of The Ground Folds, which seems to be a trend, but hey, I'm not complaining. I'll admit, Senses Fail isn't the best band out there, but if you're a fan of any types of emo, screamo, hardcore, or even punk, From the Depths of Dreams is definitely worth the listen, and if you like this cd, Let it Enfold You is even better than this short, but memorable EP.

Lastly, don't bash the music unless you actually like it. I understand people think emo bands are talentless, but show me your "talent", and I'll respect you and your opinions. :)

In the words of Buddy Neilson, "Goodbye!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, January 30, 2005
This review is from: From the Depths of Dreams (Dig) (Audio CD)
There's nothing else to say. I am dying to see them play live, this is where it all started for them. They got signed to drive-thru, made this, got signed on a bigger label, and now have a huge cd called "Let it Enfold You". (IT IS NOT UNFOLD, YOU IDIOTS). I recomend this cd, for those who like: My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, or Thursday.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREATEST EP EVER!!!!!!!, January 27, 2005
This review is from: From the Depths of Dreams (Dig) (Audio CD)
In a direct responce to the reviwer named "Adam" 3 reviews below me, I'd just like to say that "Let It ENFOLD(not unfold, you pr*ck) You" is NOT as good as From the depths of dreams. Its still a 5 star album, but everyone who's anyone knows that SF had to compromise their style and go slightly more "pop" for atleast 5 or 6 out of the 13 songs on there. And secondly, Thrusday kicks a**. Most people I know who like SF also like thrusday, so to compare them negatively is almost an insult. I suggest you go BACK to the "ludacris" and "lil jon" you were undoubtly listening to before you thought you could review quality post-hardcore. Now that thats over with, lets get to the album. My favorite track would have to be "187", simply because of the vocals and melodic guitar work. the first time I heard it, I was like "whoa, thats amazing", and my first reaction was to press the "repeat" button after it was through. Other standouts include: Steven, Bloody romance and the acoustic version of The ground folds (I love acoustic stuff). You MUST get this if you like other drive-thru post-hardcore like FINCH, THE MOVIELIFE or, maybe The early November (although they're more emo than hXe). Laterz...

4.0 out of 5 stars From The Depths Of Dreams Review, May 26, 2006
This review is from: From the Depths of Dreams (Dig) (Audio CD)
Sense fail in a quintet that knows how to play. Their only real problem was their genre choice. However they managed to become one of the only real "EMO/Screamo" bands. Most bands these days just talk about losing their girlfriends and being sad, but senses fail goes further than that, and this album shows it. With great basslines; hard, powerful drumming; guitar riffs that only get better in their full-legnth "Let It Enfold You"; and lyrics and vocals from Buddy that show you exactly what Emo is supposed to be. This first album hits the nail on the head. They have powerful imagery in their lyrics and different perspectives on heartache, death, and more. They progress superbly and scream to accentuate the tone. If your into the "Emo/Screamo" genre, definitely get this. And if you dislike that genre, this is one album you should check out; see if you still dislike it when it's done right.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty decent, January 8, 2006
This review is from: From the Depths of Dreams (Dig) (Audio CD)
Let's start off, if i give this album 5 stars doesnt mean i'm comparing it with other cd's such as Metallica's Master of puppets or Pink Floyd for that matter. I am not comparing it to those bands and their cds. In its own respect I give it 4 stars. The vocals are sometimes off, the guitar is pretty basic, but I like it. I'm not going to say it changed my life, but I do enjoy banging my head to it every now and then. When I write reviews I don't compare it. If I like it, I like it, if I don't then too bad. Doesn't mean that genre sucks or it will never be as good as the classics. Whatever. 4 stars
