Very smooth and forgiving blade that gives a nice close and comfortable shave.
Amazon shopper
I shave every day and change blades once per week, which means that this 100 pack will last me almost 2 years!
These however are even better priced and a pack of a 100 should last you a couple years.

I've been using these blades for about 4 years in a "top-load" safety razor.....replacing the Mach 3 type that I had used previously. This gives an equally, if not closer shave, at a fraction of the cost. I have a relatively thick beard and change the blade about once every 5-7 days. Do yourself a favor and start using them; you too will be a convert. Go buy a nice bottle of scotch with the $ you save.

If you are giving this blade a 1 star review because it didn't give you the shave you wanted stop being an idiot. It would be the equivalent to giving a pair of size 7 shoes you bought, a one star review if you are a size 10 shoe. These are clearly the most forgiving/non aggressive blades in the market place. If you have a thick beard this probably isn't going to suit you. That doesn't make it a poor blade, it makes it a poor blade FOR YOU. I started off with Merkur which gave me a reasonably close shave. I then experimented with the Wilkinson Sword which I found to be a bit too aggressive. Gave me a nic and some razor burn. Yes I do have sensitive skin. I then stepped down to try the Derby. It gave me the closest shave yet. This is likely not due to the fact that the blade is super sharp because compared to all other it is not. However, it did allow me to make multiple passes without any irritation which in the end is what is going to get you the closest shave. I could not have possibly made the number of passes on some areas (5) (even without shaving cream) with either the Merkur or the Wilkinson Sword blade like I did with the Derby.) I still have other blades from my starter pack that I plan to try. This includes a Feather which is the sharpest of the bunch. I fear it will be even more aggressive than the WS but we shall see. None however will get 1 star as its such a personal fit aka one size does not fit all. If you have have sensitive skin and not a thick beard the Derby will probably fit you nicely.

I'm new to wet shaving. This was my first purchase of blades, made necessary by the diminishing supply of blades from my initial kit.

Good Things:

-- Price! I use one blade per week. 100 blades is almost a two year supply! At the price, compared to plastic razors, this singular purchase has saved me enough to make the conversion to wet shaving a money saving plan (and a better shave)!

-- Function. The Derby blades are nice and sharp, giving me a much better shave than the starter blades I received. My face is smooth and I find myself feeling it throughout the day... which makes my coworkers uncomfortable. :)

-- Packaging. The blades come in sub-packs of 5 blades per pack. If I'm travelling I can just grab one of those and throw it in my bag. The blades are then safely contained, and if I lose it, I'm only out five of them.

Bad Things:

-- Packaging. It's plastic. That means landfill. I'd be much happier if those 5 packs were sub-packed into little cardboard boxes.

Most Important Thing:

Would I buy again? Yes! See you in 2014 ;)

This review pits the Derby blades against Feathers.

I've been DE shaving for about a month now, and shave every 2-3 days. My facial hair is rather thick, and the Derby's had no problem shearing through them.
A few days ago I decided to try out the Feathers, based off numerous recommendations. They were supposed to provide a very close shave with fewer passes (With the Derby's I was going with the grain, across then against to achieve relatively close to BBS)

The Feathers, as it turned out, were sharp, but would catch against the thicker spokes of hair. Additionally, they would knick any bumps on my face and cause slight bleeding. After a few shaves in, I grew so fed up with the Feathers that mid-shave I actually swapped to my last Derby blade, and finished up with no problems and super smooth skin.

I am now purchasing 100 of these and calling it a done deal.

Having priced the Derby blades at multiple vendors, this is a great deal for the Derby blades alone. What makes this even better is the stick of Arko that is thrown in to sweeten the pot. I probably never would have tried this soap if it hadn't been thrown in with the blades. I would have missed out on one of the true values in wet-shaving. This soap provides a slick, dense lather that just explodes off of the brush. It is the equal of soaps costing 5-10 times as much. As to the blades, they are one of my favorites. If cost was no object, I would stick to Iridiums or Feathers, but the Derbys are a top quality blade at a third of the price. There is a lot of debate as to the quality of Derby blades over the past six months or so. The cardboard insert on the blades has changed. While some feel that the quality of the blades has changed as well, many posters as web sites devoted to shaving notice no difference in the blades since the packaging change. I, personally, continue to find the quality to remain excellent. I also noticed one post regarding blade disposal. The boxes that I recieved have a slot at the bottom for disposing of used blades. It holds more than the five blades that come in each pack and I often dispose of other blades ( such as Iridium, Sharks and IPs which come in a plain cardboard box) using that excess capacity.
