I wanted to try a straight razor, but didn't want to spend the money for a nice one. I found a replacement blade system (less than $20) and bought these. Just got done trying them - They are GREAT! I am very prone to razor bumps/ingrown hairs; I have none after this shave. Worth the money.

I've decided to do an update on my experience with these blades. After initially purchasing these as my entry blades into straight razor shaving, I can now safely say these are THE blades for ME. After running low on my last supply, I decided to test the waters, and give the "Shark" brand blades a shot, and after going through nearly half the box I am not impressed. They were both rough and quite dull. Picking a straight razor blade is about what works for your skin, so i would take reviews fairly lightly. For me I cannot imagine how another blade could offer a better shave without tripling the cost of these blades. In a word, they are sharp! But at the same time pleasantly smooth. I believe you get what you pay for...but in this case you actually get a lot more. I found these razors to be more than useful and for the price, a great value!

I have been a barber for the last nine years and have used all types of different shaving blades, from Wilkinson to Derby. I started using Derby two years ago after I went to the beauty supply store and my 'regular' blades were sold out. I like that they already come cut in half, so you dont have to snap them and lose the other half, just unwrap and use. I also liked their quality, it WAS an inexpensive well made blade. However in the last couple of months the blade quality has decreased incredibly, now I have trouble shaving my customer's neck and mustache, two very sensitive areas. I really dont know what has happened. Before it used to be that out of a pack of 100 blades 5 or less would give me problems, but in the last pack I had problems with all my blades and was forced to returned the extra two packs I bought due to my customer's complains. I am highly disappointed by Derby, I like their design but I have to admit that I won't buy them again. :(

I use these with my parker S1. I have not used any other similar product for comparison, but like anyone else who has been shaving with cartridges it just feels so good to be paying pennies per razor so 5 stars it is.WARNING do not drop the box, 100 paper thin wax wrapped pieces of metal is a chore to pick up.

Very sharp blades, I have a heavy beard so I usually have to shave twice a day, but not with these. I get 4 or 5 close shaves per blade. So with the hundred blade box I can shave a whole year for less than $6.00. If you don't know how to use a straight razor just watch some youtube videos and practice without the blades. These blades are used with a barbers' shavette and need to be installed with proper alignment, but there's no stropping or honing like a regular straight razor. After you get the hang of it you'll rarely nick yourself, and if you use regular shave creme you can shave almost as fast as using a disposable without paying 5 bucks a cartridge.

what can i say about straight razor blades. i found great use for them and they last as long as a replace razor blade head. so i can't really say anything special about it you pay for what you buy.

I've bought a set of these blades as an experiment with a Parker SR1 shavette.By the time of writing this review, I've used some 50 of them, and the results have been poor. My main point of reference are the Wilkinson double edge blades, which last me for 4-5 good quality shaves. The steel in these Derbys is of inferior quality: the blades are rather dull to begin with, and they will get worse during the same shave. I take great care in preparing my face, but these blades just snag the hair rather than smoothly cutting it. This is similar to the Wilkinsons on the fifth shave, when I'm about to throw them out. Overall, they provide an utterly unpleasant shave, inferior to any other razor of decent quality I've tried: straight, double edge, even some disposables. There are worse blades out there, for sure, but I recommend against these Derbys, since it's not hard to find something better in a grocery store. They are acceptable at cutting longer hairs, so they may have some use for trimming a beard.

When I bought them i was just hoping that they fit in my Dovo replaceable blade razor because I couldnt find any others that could. One caveat is that they are about half as long as the ones that come with it.Just figured i would clear that up for anyone like me looking to buy these for the Dovos |
