From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 2-Mary Blackwood's rhyming story (Lerner, 1990) features Derek, a dinosaur who would rather knit than be ferocious. When the climate grows steadily colder and his dinosaur brothers shiver and complain, Derek comes to the rescue with woolly clothes for them. The lesson is clear-there is room for difference, and Derek's unreptilian skills turn out to be a treasure. Kerry Argent's illustrations add charm and humor to the story. This audio version is top-notch, with clear voice changes for characters, but without extra embellishments that might detract from the simplicity of the story. This package will delight young listeners and beginning readers.
