3.0 out of 5 stars Very low quality pictures
Is a very basic derm book, with very low quality pictures. When you zoom in the tables and in the pictures they get blurry and is very annoying to read them.

Drs. Barankin and Freiman's book is an invaluable educational tool for trainees and general physicians to have when confronted with patients who have skin disorders. It provides the basics and also information on 99% of the cutaneous disorders one will encounter in the clinic and on the wards. They competently review a host of disorders and treatment options, letting the reader know what is most likely and how to approach it. No trainee should be without this book. The authors are at the forefront of dermatologic education and one anticipates more useful tomes from them in future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful, easy to use!!, March 1, 2007
This review is from: Derm Notes: Dermatology Clinical Pocket Guide (Davis's Notes) (Spiral-bound)
Derm notes is a concise reference that quickly defines each condition, gives etiology and prevalence within patient populations, and presents treatment options. It also contains images that are excellent for recognizing conditions as they present in the clinic.

I am currently on my Pediatrics rotation and have referred to Derm Notes frequently to confirm diagnoses and consult treament plans. It can't replace a large derm atlas, but that isn't its function. This book does what it's designed to do, provide a fast and accurate clinical reference for students and providers.

This book can take a lot of abuse. The plastic pages are tear-proof and can be written on and wiped off. Mine has seen heavy use without a mark or rip to show for it. This book is money well-spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Resource, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Derm Notes: Dermatology Clinical Pocket Guide (Davis's Notes) (Spiral-bound)
This is a great pocketbook for anyone who is learning dermatology. Not only is it full of helpful visuals, but it is concise, small, and very user-friendly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy Dermatology Companion, June 30, 2006
This review is from: Derm Notes: Dermatology Clinical Pocket Guide (Davis's Notes) (Spiral-bound)
This is an excellent dermatology companion to be brought along in your lab coat when you need some clinical information. The information is concise and yet relevant and has important new and updated information. I would strongly recommend it to residents and medical students doing dermatology rotation.

I was looking for a little guide to help me identify skin conditions quickly, at the bedside. Derm Notes is a nifty little book, that has alphabetized tabs and skin conditions for quick reference. My only complaint about this guide, and one that won't apply to most potential purchasers, is that as a pediatric provider, there are a few key conditions specific to peds missing from this book. I would love to see a peds derm notes, but since there is none, this book is the next best thing. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for rotations!, March 27, 2008
This review is from: Derm Notes: Dermatology Clinical Pocket Guide (Davis's Notes) (Spiral-bound)
I am a PA student and bought this book for my surgical/clinical derm rotation. This book is an excellent review of the most commonly encountered problems. There is a section which specifically covers lasers and what they are used for and at what strengths, which was very helpful. I kept this in my pocket for the whole rotation and was constantly looking at it in my free time. I eventually showed my preceptor and she was so impressed with it she eventually bought one too! A definite necessity for the clinical setting!!!

This is a small pocket guide with excellent text information. The only reservation I have is about the pictures. The quality of the images is a little low.

This is a great set of well organized notes complete with many color photos that are of good quality. There are well organized, clear tables and treatments, and the notes are done from a to z for quick easy reference. This is a great set of notes for both students and those in dermatology practice. Dermatology assistants also seem to really like them. Buy them, you wont be disappointed, especially for the price.
