Product Description

Dermatix ultra advanced scar treatment is a transparent, fast-drying silicone gel with unique qualities to make it ideally suited to help minimize or reduce signs and symptoms of abnormal scaring and aid in the development of hypertrophic scarring after surgery. Dermatix ultra is effective for the reduction of hypertrophic and keloid scars. It has also been successfully used for the treatment of scars resulting from trauma, burns and general surgical procedures. Dermatix ultra has been shown to flatten, soften and smooth scars, relieving itching and discomfort. Silicone gels have consistently been shown to be well tolerated and suitable for both children and adults. Dermatix ultra uses a new silicone technology that produces a film on the skin, providing skin protection in an esthetically acceptable manner, unique to other available scar gels. This new silicone technology imparts a soft silky feel to the skin, without any oily residue or buildup. Dermatix ultra can be used under makeup and clothing.

I've used Dermatix Ultra consistently for about 6 months. I have raised scarring on my chest and was hoping for something to aid in the discoloration of the scars, a cessation of the burning sensation associated with raised scars, and possibly the flattening of my raised scars. This gel was successful in treating the burning/stinging sensation that I experience through my scars, however, this I feel, can be achieved through consistently using any sort of silicone based scar gel. So far, I've used Dermatix Ultra (the most expensive), Kelocote (average priced), and New Scar Therapy Topical Gel (very cheap). While there is a noticeable difference in the quality of this gel from the cheapest one I've used, I think at the end of the day, the cost was not worth the (lack of) results. I'm moving on to silicone based patches in hopes for better results.

This product is fda approved so supposed it would be better than other product in the market?! I used it twice a day and I do see some improvement in terms with the length of the scar and the discoloration. Will continue using it as my doctor said I needed to use it for 4 months. I hope it will work out!

This product works great for scars. I am confused on why people are saying that it takes forever to dry and that it is oily. I was given instructions when I bought this product to use a small amount. If you are having problems with it drying and oily then you are using to much. You just simply put a small amount on your finger and rub it in until it dries on your scar! Don't use a big blob!

I bought this for my son who had accident on his forehead. after the stitching, I started to look for product for scar. I bought scar away, but my 2 years old always peel it off, so I can't tell if it's working. The doctor suggested silicone gel, because it will does the same as the steri-strip, but the kid can't peel them. It's really gentle on the scar, it take long time to see the effect, but I found out if you put vaseline petroleum jelly after the dermatix dried, it will speed up the effect, will have huge improvement. I did this because I read an article said the cell heal better in moisture environment, so the petroleum jelly serve as guard, makes the dermatix works better. I tried once, the scar color look lighter the next day. It's really small tube, but you only need a little bit depends how big your scar is. It's a bit expensive consider it's only 1 oz, but it does long really long for me. I put on my son's scar twice a day, I kind of wish if they have SPF will be better for summer. I bought mederma spf 30 for the sunny day. so far the scar look good.

I have a keloid scar from an operation 6 months ago. My obstetrician (who did the surgery) prescribed Dermatrix Ultra for the scar. I don't know if this is the same as what's on this site, particularly as mine was prescription only. My obstetrician told me to apply a small amount twice daily, let it dry completely (at least 10 minutes), and I wouldn't see any results until at least 6-8 weeks. She also said that if anything could be done for my keloid scar, this prescription cream would do it.
