4.0 out of 5 stars Good board review
I rarely feel this is a necessary book to have with me in clinic, but it's great for boards. It's very dense with information. The drug section might be a little overwhelming. The downside is that there are some inaccuracies and some problems with misalignment of the columns in tables (which can be confusing), but I think most derm residents after their 1st year can...

2.0 out of 5 stars somewhat below average book, but some useful lists to memorize
This book, while somewhat below average in organization and scope as well as choice of what to include or exclude, has an above average amount of lists and tables and somewhat obscure facts, which if you are trying to memorize for boards or examinations may be useful, or if you have a very clear idea of the big picture in dermatology and want to fill in some tiny gaps may...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good board review, June 5, 2011
This review is from: Dermatology: Quick Glance (Paperback)
I rarely feel this is a necessary book to have with me in clinic, but it's great for boards. It's very dense with information. The drug section might be a little overwhelming. The downside is that there are some inaccuracies and some problems with misalignment of the columns in tables (which can be confusing), but I think most derm residents after their 1st year can figure out what they meant. For surgery, the handbook of dermatology is better. For use in the clinic, that handbook of dermatology is also better but the index in that one is so bad, it's hard to find stuff.

This book, while somewhat below average in organization and scope as well as choice of what to include or exclude, has an above average amount of lists and tables and somewhat obscure facts, which if you are trying to memorize for boards or examinations may be useful, or if you have a very clear idea of the big picture in dermatology and want to fill in some tiny gaps may be useful. For a dermatologist it may have very limited use. For instance, the dermatopathology section has little to no discussion of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or many other common entities, but does include the differential diagnosis of splendore-hoeppli immune complex deposition, and the differential diagnosis of clupmed tonofilaments.

I learned about this book from Derm residents rotating in my office.
Everyone should have it.
