This groundbreaking new text is easier to access, easier to use, and more clinically relevant than any other dermatology text available today. It focuses on differential diagnoses, with common and rare diagnoses defined by unique algorithms. All diseases are covered, but in a weighted context, so it reflects the way dermatologists practice day-to-day. It comprehensively covers options and offers treatments along with evidence-based summaries. Over 3,000 full-color photographs and illustrations demonstrate exactly how diseases present. A CD-ROM bound in the book offers all of the illustrations that can be used for electronic lectures and presentations.
  • Written by over 255 international leaders in the field.
  • Reflects modern practice with two sections on dermatologic surgery.
  • Covers pediatric dermatology, dermopathology, and basic science which are needed to pass the boards.
  • Features over 3,000 full-color photographs and line drawings.
  • Uses colorful graphs, algorithms, and tables to explain difficult concepts and to aid in understanding.
  • Begins each chapter with a summary box for a focus on key issues.
  • Color-coded pages for quick access to information.
  • Focuses on the clinical aspects of dermatology and only includes "need-to-know" basic science.
  • Contains key references which serve as a gateway to internet searches for the current literature and references to primary papers.
  • Includes a CD-ROM that features all of the illustrations from the text that can be used to create electronic slides for lectures and presentations.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Should be praised not only for its content but also for its practicality. The two-volume set is easy to use. Both practicing clinicians and dermatology residents will find everything that they need for dermatology...[It] has brought the tradition of excellent dermatology textbooks to a new height that will be hard to match or surpass."--JAMA

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST DERMATOLOGY BOOK EVER !!!, June 6, 2004

This review is from: Dermatology (2 Volume Set) (Hardcover)
Good bye ROOK , The most compact dermatology textbook containing ALL the information within 2 vols is finally here. The book can be said to be the dermatology counterpart of Medicine's Kumar and clark .It has flow charts which help you understand and diagnose various conditions .It also has lots of tabular columns which give you all the facts about a topic (eg ,indications of methotrexate or screening tests done before starting methotrexate for psoriasis )in one single table which makes it very easy for you to retreive what you want in a glance.

The book also has lots of photos about common and rare diseases .The text is easy to read (flows ).This book fills a long felt vacuum among dermatologists of a standard textbook containing all the information ,which is easy to read and yet compact and handy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Overall Dermatology Text Book Also Available Online, September 28, 2004
For the past 6 months I have been reading the best overall text book on any subject I have ever studied for the past 24 years: Dermatology by Bolognia. What I like about this book: the chapters are clearly written and well illustrated. The information is useful, very well organized, clinically relevant, and fairly complete. Chapters cover medical derm, cosmetic derm, and surgical derm. The book is replete with useful tables. Best of all, there is an online version available with the purchase of the books, which allows one to easily print out copies of chapters for reading on the train, etc. Kudos to Bolognia et al. I plan to read every chapter a couple of times before I graduate!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book, bad service, February 21, 2008

These are great books.
Unfortunately I had to order them twice from Amazon.
First time only received Vol 1 (even though this is a two volume set!!!) and then had to hear that I cannot be sent vol 2, and second time the order was lost.
