This is the perfect product if you want vibrant, permanent color on fabrics. I've used the ink blocks for my current quilt project, and am extremely happy with the colors and intensity. They don't bleed when washed (although I haven't tried using soap yet, just rinsed the fabric after painting).

I had to draw with these unique solid color sticks as soon as I opened the shipping carton. My fascination with the set is growing. I find my technique with these water soluble colors is evolving and I look forward to trying new ways of applying and blending the colors. I found that the colors are blendable just like water colors until completely dry on paper. Then, the color cannot be dissolved with water. I haven't used the Inktense blocks on silk or other fabrics yet. That fun will come!

Derwent out performed my expectations, once again. The Intense Blocks are beautiful. The colors! Of course the fact that the color is permanent when dry is a plus. If you've never tried these, give them a try, you'll love them.

They are truly amazing and I get better coverage than with the pencils. They don't wear down as fast. My issue is with getting used to how they work, because they behave a bit differently from other similar media. I do love that they can be used like watercolor pencils (draw dry on a surface, then activate with water); shaved or grated into water (to make ink washes); and they also function like pastels/chalk. They brighten to a magnificent intensity when wet, and they don't wash out later no matter how wet the paper gets.

One caveat: remember that they work on paper, AND fabric. That means your clothing as well. Be sure you avoid getting any on your clothing as it may stain permanently. It washes off of skin with soap and water.

If you enjoy working with ink you will love the control and color intensity ink blocks leans to art. If you are a watercolor fan and want to expand your artist horizons, ink blocks is a good avenue to start with. Enjoy

They work okay , stain your fingers without using gloves, break easily getting them out of the container very snug, may be better with the use of the grippers added cost, no points like pencils so care needs to be used close to edges , spread better with the use of water, but not too wet as they bled, past the stitching line, they blend well. Did not like the effect with the medium tried. You can buy a shaver to scrape the chalks.
You don't know till you try how things work

Just the thing I have been looking for to work on quilts. I am going to do a test run on fabric and wash it and see how it comes out. I am really in love with these so far. When I do the test and wash the test piece, I will add to this review. So far, I am impressed.

Wow, what an amazing product! I went on to youtube and found several videos that taught me the various ways to use these sticks. I am a gourd artist, and now I am pulling previously finished art back out and adding shadows and details using the Inktense Blocks.

These are really lovely, intense colors in excellent-quality blocks. I use them mainly with a water brush on paper to do washes, and they layer beautifully. My only regret is that I didn't buy the larger set. :-)

These are awesome. You draw with kind of scratchy pastels, kind of pale. But when you paint with water, they become bright watercolor. Its a great for on location sketching.
The white was disappointing, The stick broke 3 times, and it isnt opaque at all.
But I think most artists will enjoy them.
