Bought this product a little over a year ago because we love to eat outdoors but didn't want to have to bundle up as the sun started to go down earlier and earlier in the fall. The reason we chose the portable model is that we've got a weekend cottage that we use thru the end of October. Well, the Heat-N-Go has worked beautifully for us. We've now used it for 2+ heating seasons (fall 2007, spring 2008, and so far this fall) and have used it enough to go thru a full 17lb LP tank. Through all that usage it has never failed to light on the first push of the built-in igniter. It provides a very comfortable circle of heat and seems to be quite efficient in terms of LP use. We probably have gotten more than 20 hours of use from that first tank.
The assembly and disassembly felt a bit awkward the first few times but once I had done it a few times and was familiar enough with the parts and the process to no longer need the manual, it became easy to do and only takes 2 - 3 minutes. The included carrying bag is very cleverly designed with pockets and velcro straps so that all the components have a secure spot with no rattling or damage in transit.
We highly recommend this product.

Have used this heater for two seasons, easily going through two 20 lb propane tanks each year with it. Never had had a problem lighting or getting it to stay on. We also have a large standard standing patio heater that cost almost twice as much as this one, but it is not nearly as easy to use. Because of the frequent use, I only disassemble this in the spring, and put it back up late in the fall. The actual area covered is a little smaller than the standard patio heater, but for the cost and ease of use, this can't be beat.

It is only rated at about 22,000 btu's. Most patio heaters are 44,000 btu's. Half the output and about half the price of traditional patio heaters. Therefore, it does not "roast" the persons sitting near it, while the person farther away is cold. To obtain the optimum temperature for all my guests to be comfortable, I purchased 2. One for each end of the patio. To me this is better since the whole are receives the same warmth and no one has to be baked. At this price, purchasing 2 is similar to buying 1 traditional patio heater. So, I am very satisfied. However, I did shorten mine. They are so tall that the radiant heat did not perform well for persons sitting down. As designed, the height worked best for persons standing. Now that they are 6 inches shorter, the performance for both standing and seated is equal. I highly recommend. What sold me was the few complaints about start-up of the igniter and burner. Most traditional patios have lots of feedback complaining about that. So far, in my experience, the reviewers are correct. However, my units came with the burner head attachment screws to the pole not fully tightened. When you pushed the igniter button the heads "tilted" slightly. I thought this was unsafe and tightened all the screws. Apparently, the torque setting on the assembly line screw drivers needs a little adjusting at the factory.
