Pilar started her career in the early 90's with a group called "Garibaldi" that had a big hit for a while, she's also known as an actress but her previous cd's as a solo singer really didn't do it in the international market.
But "Desahogo" (Relief) has nothing to do with it. The album is full of success. The first single "Quitame ese hombre" (Take away from me that man) became a #1 hit for several weeks in the US and other countries including Spain. The hit of the song was so big that it also charted on The Hot 100 that it's actually for songs in English. It reached #72.
"Desahogo" has been certified Platinum x2 in the US and Mexico and Platinum and Gold in other countries.

Pilar's music is pop and she also sings some tropical mexican music that sounds very good on this beautiful woman.

Pilar Montenegro isn't the best Latin singer out there. Her albums have always had mediocre airplay and moderate success. In fact, it should be fair to say that her good looks and svelte figure have catapulted her to the top. However, Pilar has finally released a CD worth listening to. Desahogo's first single, "Quitame Ese Hombre," became the number one single in the US Latin charts and in various Latin countries. The flawless production and catchy tunes have turned this album into one of my favorites. As previously mentioned, Pilar Montenegro isn't the most talented singer out there, but I shall continue to buy her CDs if she carries on releasing classics-in-the-making.

Pilar making this CD is the equivalent to J. LO making her cd's. Neither of them have the best voices but both produce well balanced music which can be listened to easily without having to dig to DEEP. When she sings Quitame Ese Hombre we can feel her passion and her pain. Any mujer who just broke up with her hombre be careful listening to this song, it is a tearjerker. In addition, this cd for Pilar brings her to a much older more mainstream market than some of her earlier work. As a result, this cd encompasses a much larger audience thus resulting in more a balanced album. Overall, a good album with a very promising future for Pilar.

The lyrics to the songs portray real life situations. You feel like you really identify with each and one of the songs of the album. The only little flaw here is that she does not have a great voice. One some songs, you wish she would improve her vocal ability, but I think she is gettting there. Pilar has always been known not to have the best vocal voice, but she manages to try to improve. The album is worth buying it. Hopefully, next time she improves a little more.

Realemente el mejor cd de La Montenegro, inclusive, superando el anterior trabajo discográfico que ya era muy bueno. Recomendable 100 por 100.-

Un Album que dedica a todos sus fans. He escuchado dos canciones de este CD y las dos canciones son muy buenas. Una tiene estilo de pop y la otra trae un estilo de musica texana, algo asi como las baladas que cantaba selina. Tan pronto como escuche el CD les doy mas informacion.

perdón, pero este cd está horrible. lo siento. la montenegro no tiene voz. me regalaron este cd y no vale la pena para nada. tengo su primer disco (que salió en el 96) y aunque no es mucho mejor que digamos, al menos tenia unas rolas más movidas que ayudan a su voz. por ejemplo "Muveme" y "De Amarte" (en especial su versión remix). aunque haya trabajado con uno de los productores más importantes de hoy en día, eso no la ayudó con su último disco.

Compre este CD y lo quede sin escucharlo por varios dias, y cuando al fin lo escuche por primero vez, quede completamente desconcertado y enamorado de Pilar, su voz y su manera tan elocuente y profunda de interpretar las canciones del album. Su rendicion de "Desahogo" original de Roberto Carlos es prueba del talento que posee Pilar. Espero pronto tener la oportunidad de escucharla en vivo. Para mi sera un verdadero placer. A Pilar...me postro ante su talento.

Buenisimo trabajo, el que ha realizado Pilar Montenegro con este disco.. sin duda es uno de los mejores que he escuchado en los ultimos tiempos... y cada dia esta bellisima cantante se va superando, recomendado el 100 por 100.. y no dejen de escuchar el tema de "Cuando estamos juntos" está genial...
