More About the Author

In 2009, indie author Jason Garrett launched his own publishing brand, Dream Big Productions; with the idea of never limiting himself to one medium or style. Re-branding his Blood Brother series, he launched his first title under his label: Homecoming, which served as the first book in his series: The Eric Kade Journeys.

The next year, he released his most successful novel, Pursuit, which was the first entry in a new series: Tales of Bishop's Island. Enjoying critical success, including being named a finalist in the 2012 National Indie Excellence awards in two categories, Jason continued writing and improving his craft. In 2012, he quietly published the follow-up novels to both series with The Winter War (March, 2012) and Descent (July, 2012). The year ended with Jason's third release, the horror-thriller Troubled Souls (November).

In 2013, Troubled Souls received the National Indie Excellence Award and the Beverly Hills Book Award in the horror categories. Jason announced the final book in The Eric Kade Journeys was slated for February 2014, with the novel Heretic. After concluding this series, his writing focus would shift to new characters and settings for the upcoming e-books Give Her Back to Me and Wayward, which will release later this year.

I love how the author combines the story and the charming and attractive characters that keep you reading and turning pages. Jason Garrett's latest fast-paced mystery is another winner from this fine author who knows how to create excitement in his novels.
I won't give away details except to say there are three clues that hold a secret. My husband and I both enjoyed reading Descent. We took turns reading it, but only after drawing straws to see who got the book first.
This is a must read for anyone who likes good novels that are also very well written.

Descent is a wonderful story that has characters you invest your time and life into. They are engaging and the story brings you in so much so you get to the end of the book before you know it and are wanting for more. Mr. Garrett is an excellent author who should continue writing books and bringing us these characters we fall in love with.

Since the game has been reviewed here a ton, I am going to focus on the quality of the game.
Let me say that, like with previous expansions, there is the lacking of room in the box for everything for me, this is NOT a bad thing, as I have learned how to deal with it all in the main Descent Box, so do not let that deter you from this.
The addition of the monsters and the pieces are great, as always the quality is excellent. The new heroes as well add to the game.
I would recommend this game to any of my friends that have played wow (In fact I have a lot!) as this game has a MMO feel to it on the board game once you get a campaign expansion (which I am happy to say this works well in!)
This is probably the second expansion i would recommend getting, Road to Legend being the first, and just sit back and enjoy with your friends the wonders of Descent :)

Please be aware if you are considering this item it is an expansion to Descent: Journeys in the Dark which is the base game and is required for the Descent: Tomb of Ice to be played.

This the fourth expansion in the Descent series and adds a new theme, game components, new rules, and new quests (6 in total) for your intrepid party of characters as they explore a dungeon in the frozen climates of the north.

Descent uses a modular board system which allows for creative scenario design as well as creating a very good sense of exploration for players as you can limit the amount of dungeon the players can see at any one time (e.g. in the case of a door blocking the view of what is beyond).

The game system requires an overlord character who controls the dungeon being aware of the overall dungeon (from prepared scenarios in the game), monster locations, traps, treasures, etc. The other individuals play as the hero characters trying to survive the dungeon and get rich and find glory in the process.

Production values of this game are amazing. The artwork and detail really add to the imagination and enhance the game experience. All monsters and characters are represented with plastic miniatures (unpainted) and map boards are very stylized and appealing to the eye.

Game play is pretty much straight forward. Move, explore, fight monsters with weapons or magic, collect treasure, and continue on. Much like any board game you have to get used to the mechanics and procedures, but once this is done the game moves very nicely. Though a quest can take quite a few hours to complete depending on number of players and size of the dungeon.

Honest with what he felt was wrong with it. Personally I felt he made it sound worse then it was. Very happy with what speed and condition.
