Classic but still pertinent

This book, published in 1871 is still, like its predecessor "Origin of Species," a clear and well reasoned presentation of the biological evidence for evolution, in this case the evolution of human beings. Darwin's command of the evidence and his clear reasoning are pleasures to read even 142 years later.

I have read about and heard about Darwin, and read this while I toured the Galapagos. It is a must-read, and you need to read a bit about the history of his development of his theories too.

I read this book as a follow up to Origin of Species. Which was published about a decade before. Anybody who would like to argue ( or listen to arguments ) about evolution should invest in both these books-after all the're free! You may find that don't really believe in Darwin's theories, at least not all of them. For example, are you willing to accept as scientific fact that European men are more intelligent than women, Africans, or American aborigines?. Read part three of Decent.
