A very edifying book, March 23, 1999

This review is from: A Description of the Qualifications Necessary to a Gospel Minister: Advice to Ministers and Elders Among the People Called Quakers (Hardcover)
This book was written by Samuel Bownas, a second generation Quaker minister, who underwent a very dramatic conversion and convincement experience after a travelling Quaker preacher by the name of Anne Wilson reproved him for sleeping during a Meeting for Worship at Brigflatts in 1696. The result was a fine and fruitful ministry covering the next fifty years and many countries around the world, travelling and preaching the Everlasting Gospel. This little book gives a very succinct picture of the man's faith in the Lord, and the way He had His hand upon his ministry. It serves as a timely and challenging reminder as to the true nature and calling of Christian ministry in an age increasingly selling out to false teachings and "prosperity" preaching, and should be compulsory reading for any Christian feeling or testing a call to the ministry. Excellent stuff
